Whanganui is a UNESCO City of Design on New Zealand’s North Island. Begin your scenic journey at Whanganui Regional Museum, famous for its tāonga Māori collection. Later, visit New Zealand Glassworks, where you can book a paperweight workshop for an immersive and memorable experience. Furthermore, the 20th-century Royal Whanganui Opera House, New Zealand’s last Victorian theater, is a must-see for history and art buffs.

Nature lovers can take a guided canoe ride along the Whanganui River. Make sure to climb the Durie Hill Memorial Tower and Elevator, as well. The 66-meter (216.54-foot) elevator ride will take you to the lookout deck that’s 113 meters (370.73 feet) above sea level, where you will enjoy unbeatable views of the city, inland volcanic mountains, Whanganui River, and the Tasman Sea.

If you’re finally tempted to look for accommodation in this beautiful city, then read on for the top cabins near Whanganui, New Zealand.
