Andalusia is a large region situated in the hills, rivers, and farmland bordering Spain’s southern coast. This autonomous community of Spain is renowned for its medieval architecture dating back to the Moorish rule from the 8th to the 15th century. One such notable architecture from their rule includes landmarks such as Alcazar castle in Seville, Córdoba’s Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral, Granada’s Alhambra palace. The territories of Andalusia are divided into eight provinces and with so many towns, villages, and mountains, this area is recognized as a “historic nationality.” No wonder so many tourists make sure they head to Andalusia when visiting Spain. With so many things to see, do, or explore, it is no surprise that you will research some of the best places to set up your base. Hence, we have listed down some of the best cave hotels in Andalusia, Spain, that everyone must experience once in a while.
We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. Tip from tour guide
A 53-minute drive from Cuevas de María will take you to the historic Catedral de Granada in the city's centre. Did you know that here there once stood the Great Mosque of Sultan Yusuf, who was beloved by the people but who had a tragic death? Along with being the center of religious power and a political symbol for Yusuf, its strategic position made it visible from any hill in the city.
The main façade was designed by Alonso Cano. He recaptured the idea of Arc de Triomphe, moving away from the altarpiece façade and achieving great theatricality. Today's cathedral is still definitely a must-visit place for anyone visiting Granada for the first time.
