Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Port Columbus International Airport, this Courtyard is convenient for both air travelers and anyone visiting the central Columbus area. The hotel has all the amenities and perks travelers have come to expect from the Marriott line, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Although there are several Courtyard locations in greater Columbus, this one is the only one of them to earn a four star rating.

The extra luxuries create a sanctuary

From the moment you near the building, the atmosphere is different. You transition from busy metropolis to a more park-like setting. Mature trees speckle the perimeter of the grounds, and the copiously-planted flowers and other greenery beckon guests into the building, hinting at the more expansive gardens waiting inside the hotel’s signature walled courtyard.

Once in the hotel, the warm lighting and cheerful colors welcome you. So does the clerk, always with a genuine smile, ready to help you with check-in, local information, business services, or to schedule a free shuttle to the airport. The hotel is clean; everything looks new without feeling sterile.

Rooms are decorated in the same warm, amber earth tones as the lobby. Beds and pillows are all upgraded for maximum comfort. Free Wi-Fi in all guest rooms is an especially nice perk. The larger-than-standard desk creates a workspace that lets you spread out. All of this starts at just 120 USD per night for a single king bed. You can easily spend all day in your room, whether you’re lounging or working, except for the fact that you’ll want to take advantage of the Courtyard’s other great features.

Getting hungry?

When it’s time to eat, the Courtyard’s Bistro is open for breakfast and dinner. They offer Starbucks coffee and a range of cocktails, wines, and beers. Both breakfast and dinner menus give you a range of choices, including some seasonal items.

If The Bistro isn’t quite formal enough, the River City Grille is right across the street inside the Marriott, the Courtyard’s sister hotel. Guest dress is casual, but service is excellent, the meals are fancy, and the tables are covered in linens.

Alternatively, a Waffle House is within line of sight of the hotel. And several other restaurants are in the area, within about five miles of the Courtyard.

A lobby with living rooms

Adjacent to the formal lobby are a number of large alcoves that provide a range of seating options. Plush chairs and couches, and more formal seating with tables are available for lounging, visiting, or dining. Some of the seating lies conveniently near The Bistro, while other seating groups look out over the courtyard and gardens. These charming spots are a great place to read, or to conduct informal work meetings. For more formal events, two meeting rooms are situated nearby.

A charming indoor pool

The swimming pool is near the lobby and sitting rooms. Comfortable, attractive deck chairs line the perimeter – they’re a welcome luxury in comparison to the white plastic models at so many hotel pools. The warm colors of the lobby continue here on the walls and furnishings. Fresh, dry towels are well-stocked. But the real charm of this swimming area is in the long wall perforated by floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors. The sunlight and beauty of the manicured gardens flows in, making the pool feel more like a resort pool than a hotel pool.

The walled courtyard calls

Probably the Courtyard’s most alluring feature is the courtyard itself. The walled grounds are private, and the hedges and trees frame the garden and shield it from most of the noise from outside. Many of the hotel’s rooms overlook the garden, making for a pleasant view. Within the garden, there are grassy paths, loads of flowers, sitting areas, tables, and a beautiful fire pit circled with comfy seating and side tables.

At most times of the day or night, you can find someone strolling the grounds, having a cigarette, or just getting Zen, even when it’s chilly. In the evenings, it’s common for guests to flock around the fire. It’s cozy and irresistible, and the atmosphere makes it easy to start chatting with the other guests. It’s hard to be strangers when you share a fire!

A Central Columbus getaway

Whether you visit Columbus for business or pleasure, the Courtyard Columbus Airport Hotel is a welcome refuge from the stress and excitement of the day. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard, and complete the sensation that you’re staying in a resort.
