Tip from Content Creator

Dacha Beer Garden

Aside from being a wonderful pet-friendly eatery, Dacha Beer Garden has another significance. This place in the Shaw neighborhood features a glamorous 50-ft (15-m) pink mural of the legendary Elizabeth Taylor. She was painted on Dacha Beer Garden’s wall by muralist Byron Peck.

There is a deeper meaning behind this mural than the beautiful face of Elizabeth Taylor. The mural is meant to honor Taylor's generous support of the Whitman-Walker Health Center, which helped to prevent the spread of AIDS and provided treatment to those affected by HIV/AIDs.

Just like this one, there's a story behind every mural in DC!
