There are many restaurants where you can eat as much as you want for a limited amount of time, but in most of them the food isn’t really that delicious. Here I want to introduce another place where the taste is quite rich and everything is served in a buffet style!
Special weekend-only buffet style at a famous hotel's Japanese restaurant
The place where you can find this top-class buffet is the Japanese cuisine restaurant “Omborato” at the famous Hyatt Regency Tokyo Hotel which you’ve all heard about. It’s located right next to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building in Shinjuku. After you enter inside, you’ll see 3 giant chandeliers which are said to cost 50 million JPY each. Enjoy their beauty and take the escalator to the 3rd floor where “Omborato” is.
“Omborato” means “Have a good meal!” in the local Ishikawa prefecture dialect and this place is a traditional Japanese cuisine restaurant. Every Saturday they offer a special “Weekend Lunch Buffet”. The dishes are of course Japanese. Lunch costs 3700 JPY (10% service fee is added).
The buffet has received coverage by TV media as well, so it’s highly recommended. You can enter either after 11:30 am or after 1:30 pm. If you make a prior reservation you can come a little earlier and wait until they call your name. Chairs are provided outside for people waiting to enter.
Eat as much sushi as you want!
The highlight of this buffet is the abundance of sushi! You’ll see a menu with all types of sushi listed on the table. When I went there the menu had maguro tuna sushi, white-fleshed fish sushi, sweet shrimp sushi, squid sushi, salmon sushi and fresh seafood. The white-fleshed fish was sea bream and the fresh seafood was scallop, but they change every day. Order and you’ll get your plate within 10 minutes.
How great and delicious! Especially the maguro tuna is so easy to eat and tasty! You can order as many sushi plates as you want.
Eat as many boiled crabs as you want!
Another highlight is the boiled crabs. They’re all piled up as you see on the photo. I went in June which isn’t the typical crab season, but they had so many pieces! You simply remove the shell and eat the meat which melts in your mouth. This dish is very popular among children so you’ll see kids walking around with a plate full of boiled crabs.
Every item is delicious!
Not all places where you can eat as much as you can offer good-quality food. Yes, you do get full, but sometimes the dishes are too cold and just not tasty enough. If you want to go to a better place and take your kids to make them happy, this buffet is the ideal choice!
On the photo you can see various items from the Japanese cuisine. Crabs and sushi are delicious too, but you can also try other Japanese dishes. For example, taste the tempura which the chef fries in front of you. When I went there the tempura consisted of shrimps, asparagus and sweet potato. The ingredients also change every day, but there’s always shrimp tempura. Everything is light, crispy and tastes like nothing that you can make on your own at home. The tempura is served in small pieces and is easy to eat.
Actually, all the other dishes are very delicious. I particularly liked the Japanese omelette. It tasted like nothing I had tried before! It even came with a dressing! There are over 30 other Japanese dishes. You can eat as many sashimi pieces as you want. Small-size tuna fish rice bowls and salmon roe rice bowls can be ordered too.
A great selection of desserts!
There are various sweets like puddings, bracken-starch dumplings, sweet red-bean soup, ice cream, cakes and many others. I recommend the soft pudding that you can see on the photo! There are more women among the visitors and more elderly people so you can savor your lunch slowly and elegantly.
This lunch will completely satisfy you
This place is good to go on special days and for special reasons. It’s also recommended to people who like to eat as much as they want but haven’t found a good enough restaurant to do that yet.
