The Thai province of Loei is located in the north-eastern part of the country that is also known as Isan. Despite being in the Isan geographical area, it shares a lot in common with northern Thailand. It is a lush mountainous province with many places of interest.

Rabiang Phu Resort enjoys a great location right outside the entrance to one of Loei’s beautiful national parks. An attractive resort with comfortable cabins and good amenities, it is highly recommended that visitors have their own transport during their stay. Whilst it would be possible to reach the resort using public transport and taxis, many of the nearby places of interest require private transport to enjoy.

If you plan on exploring lovely Loei, here are some reasons to choose the pretty Rabiang Phu Resort:

Wide choice of rooms to cater to varying group sizes

Rabiang Phu Resort has several types of room spread over a fairly large area. Accommodation is in cute chalets and cabins, rather than rooms in a block or larger building, and they can sleep two, three, four, or five guests. There are also small houses that can accommodate up to nine guests and the resort has a camping area with tents and bedding provided. Visitors can also pitch their own tents.

Prices vary depending on the time of year, with the most expensive times being weekends in December and January. This is the area’s coolest time and many visitors flock here to enjoy the low temperatures. Loei is the only province in Thailand where temperatures can actually dip as low as zero degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).

Rooms for two people usually cost between 900 THB (approximately 25 USD) and 1,200 THB (approximately 33 USD) per night. This increases to between 1,100 THB (approximately 30.50 USD) and 1,400 THB (approximately 39 USD) per night for weekends in December and January.

The price for a three person room is from 1,700 THB (approximately 47 USD) to 1,900 THB (approximately 52.50 USD), rising to between 2,000 THB (approximately 55.50 USD) and 2,200 THB (approximately 61 USD) during the peak pricing period.

You will pay between 1,700 THB (approximately 47 USD) and 2,000 THB (approximately 55.50 USD) for a room for four people, with the peak rate between 2,000 THB (approximately 55.50 USD) and 2,400 THB (approximately 66.50 USD) per night. The regular daily price for a room for five is 2,400 THB (approximately 66.50) at regular times and 2,800 THB (approximately 77.50 USD) on peak weekends.

A house for nine people is 4,500 THB (approximately 125 USD) per night, or 5,500 THB (approximately 152.50 USD) per night on weekends in December and January.

A tent for two people is 400 THB (approximately 11 USD) per night, whilst a tent for three people is 500 THB (approximately 14 USD) per night. It costs 100 THB (approximately 2.50 USD) per night to pitch your own tent. There is no seasonal variation in these prices.

Cosy and comfortable rooms with lovely added touches

Each room has a private bathroom with a hot water shower and a basic selection of mini toiletries. There are communal facilities for guests staying in tents.

All rooms have a TV and refrigerator with complimentary drinking water. Each also has its own private seating area outside. The cheaper rooms of each size have wall-mounted electric fans whilst the more expensive rooms within the different size groups have air-conditioning. Whilst you probably won’t need either air-conditioning or a fan during the cool season (October to February), Loei is a province of superlatives when it comes to the temperature – it sees some of the country’s hottest temperatures during the hot season. April to June is usually the hottest time of the year.

The comfortable beds have warm duvets and fluffy pillows and the freshly-laundered towels have such a sweet fragrance.

Whilst the furnishings are pretty basic, with a clothes rail, desk, and bedside cabinet, items are in great condition and the rooms are very clean. Indeed, the wooden floor was positively gleaming from being polished so much! Carved pieces, like ornate clocks and picture frames, along with colourful pictures, plants, and small bunches of artificial flowers, help to add character to the rooms.

Inclusive breakfast and onsite dining options

Breakfast is included each morning for all room types. People staying in one of the resort’s tents can also enjoy the simple but filling breakfast, whilst those who have pitched their own tents can pay an additional 70 THB (approximately 2 USD) for breakfast.

Breakfast consists of a few Thai dishes, such as egg fried rice with chicken, Khao Tom (a thin rice porridge), and deep fried dough. You can also help yourself to water and coffee.

If you are vegetarian and you mention this to a member of staff, they will prepare something veggie-friendly for your breakfast. For example, I was given my own plate of crunchy stir-fried vegetables with plain boiled rice. This had not been requested; the restaurant staff had realised I was vegetarian at the previous night’s evening meal and prepared something suitable the following morning. It was such a nice gesture. Whilst the meal itself might not have been what I would usually choose for breakfast, it was tasty and filling and the friendly staff members were so sweet.

There are two restaurants within the resort, although one was being used for a private function at the time of stay. The one that was not open appeared to be a steak restaurant. The other serves a basic selection of Thai meals. Diners are given a piece of paper with a list of around eight dishes to choose between. Simply tick next to each desired item and your food will be brought to your room to enjoy at your outside seating area. Meals include stir-fried vegetables, stir-fried mushrooms, stir-fried pork, and stir-fried chicken, all served with boiled rice. The list is written in Thai, however, so this could be problematic. (And, there are no pictures to help out!)

Other resort facilities for a pleasant visit in gorgeous surroundings

Ample car-parking is available. Some rooms have parking places right outside and there is also a large grassy parking area.

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available. The signal is strong and reliable.

Visitors can enjoy a traditional Thai massage or a reflexology foot massage (additional fees apply) in a designated small massage cabin called the “Happy Zone”!

Some cabins are perched close to the edge of a hill, offering terrific views of the surroundings mountains and fields. The resort’s grounds are refreshingly green, with an abundance of colourful flowers and interesting plants. There are also plenty of cute statues, such as grinning sheep, and thermometers affixed to posts where you can see exactly what the current temperature is.

Great location at the entrance of Phu Ruea National Park

Rabiang Phu Resort is situated just a five minute drive from the entrance to the beautiful Phu Ruea National Park. Admission costs 200 THB (approximately 5.50 USD) for non-Thai visitors.

The park offers amazing views and lots of interesting nature trails. The peak of the mountain is topped with a small temple and a lovely imprinted concrete walkway that shows the tracks made by all of Thailand’s native creatures. The scent of pine trees lingers in the air and seductive mists cloak the top of the mountain. You will probably notice quite a sharp drop in temperature as you make your way higher, so be prepared and take a sweater! There are a couple of stalls where you can buy hand-made items, such as ponchos, hats, and scarves, as well as souvenirs and small gifts. The national park is home to several waterfalls and strange rock formations. Look out for Hin Tao, a natural rock formation that looks strikingly like a turtle!

Loei’s Poinsettia Garden is on the short stretch of road between Rabiang Phu Resort and Phu Ruea National Park. It is filled with attractive red poinsettia flowers during the cool season and the scene of the province’s yearly Poinsettia Festival (from the end of November to the end of January). It is free to stroll through the delightful garden.

Stay at Rabiang Phu Resort for easy access to one of Thailand’s enchanting national parks, incredible mountain views, lovely rooms, exceptionally friendly members of staff, and a welcoming relaxing vibe.
