If you want to relax with family or a group of friends in a rental cottage, you should definitely take a look at Blueberry Lodge at Gotemba Kogen’s Tokinosumika. Tokinosumika in Gotemba Kogen is in the mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture, lending to a fantastic view of Mt. Fuji and a grand star filled sky at night.
Blueberry Lodge

Blueberry Lodge was built using the finest woods from Canada. The exterior has a country feel to it and is endearing, with 2 floors and only 4 rooms on each side is also part of the appeal. With a total of 17 buildings and 68 rooms all together, there are a limited number of rooms per building, and if you are making reservations as a group you can start to think about renting a whole building! Here you can enjoy the slow life in a lodge like it’s your own cottage.
The rooms…

There is one room like the one pictured above and another that is traditional Japanese style, and a dining/kitchen. You can borrow pots, pans, and cooking utensils at the front desk, for some home cooking if you prefer. (They don’t provide plates or chopsticks so you have to buy disposable ones or bring your own.). Besides these rooms there is a bathroom and a toilet.
It is convenient with a fridge, TV, microwave, hot water pot, and air conditioner. Basic amenities are also supplied. (Pajamas aren’t provided so bring your own.)
There is a Dead Sea salt bath at the onsen facility Kirakubo!

When you stay at Blueberry Lodge you can bathe at the outdoor bath “Ringo no Yu” (Apple Bath), but it isn’t big and there is only one outdoor bath, so if there are many other guests it can get quite crowded. This doesn’t sound like an idyllic onsen experience. That’s where the Kirakubo comes in handy. Guests of the Blueberry Lodge get a special priced ticket of only 1000 JPY.
At Kirakubo, there is an outdoor bath, hot tub, Dead Sea salt bath, Chinese medicinal bath, and several others as well as a sauna. Out of all the options the Dead Sea Salt Bath is interesting with its use of salt from the Dead Sea and you float just as if you were really there! It is also purported to be good for skin as well. You don’t have to go all the way to the Middle East to feel the effects of the Dead Sea.
Kirakubo is only a 15 minute walk from Blueberry Lodge, so you can take a stroll and explore the area a bit while on the way there.
Get healthy while bathing at the onsen!

Inside the facility there is a rest area, restaurant, nap area, and a gift shop. There is also a massage chair free of charge. Additionally there is an area where you can experience a Rock Salt Healing method which uses rock salt from the Himalayas, stretching equipment in the rest area, that allow you to really take care of your health while here.
Also some illumination shows

From Tokinosumika you can see a great view of Mt. Fuji and a beautiful star filled sky. Also, up to 3-15-2015 they display an illumination show. Every evening, even in the rain, from 5pm they put on quite a show. Pictured above is a popular photo spot, with a 20m tall natural fir tree. Enjoy all the light displays while walking the 450m tunnel of light!
