Eurohostel, located in just 10 minutes by tram from the center of Helsinki, is an excellent choice of accommodation especially for couple travelers who like to have their own time and space during holidays. With only 24.80 EUR (approximately 28 USD) per person for a double room, you can enjoy spending great time here with personal space, sauna, and dining in a friendly restaurant. Read on to capture a view of what’s offered in this hostel.

It's completely private and safe

There are over a hundred single, double and triple rooms located throughout the six floors of Eurohostel. You wont be able to find here huge 10-bed dorms like in other hostels downtown, which are loud and crowded at nights. Eurohostel is more similar to a hotel than a hostel, as there is no lounge area for big parties or crazy pub crawl events. The hostel has been designed in a way for Finns who enjoy a more private atmosphere with lots of space of their own.

For each room, you’d have your own key card, which can also be used for the main front door. Regarding the safety, you can also leave your non-valuable stuff in a big safe luggage room free of charge. You can also borrow from the reception a small box with locker for important personal items such as passport or wallet for free.

Experience the comfort of Finnish sauna

One of the must-try, especially as a visitor in Finland, is going to sauna. It’s typical to have ‘Sauna time together’ during local house parties or casual business hang-out here. Finns go to sauna completely naked and even jump to cold rivers or lakes after entering the above 40-Celsius- degree hot steaming wooden room. For those who would like to experience something that exotic, go to a local cottage by the lake if you know a local who owns one or is willing to rent one. Another cheaper option is local swimming pools.

Eurohostel also offers sauna daily on the 8th floor for guests free of charge. Here, sauna is opened every morning from 6.30AM to 9.30 AM and evening from 4.30PM to 9.30 PM. There are separate sauna rooms for males and females, with shower, automatic lights and even microwaves in case someone is interested in organizing a small party at these sauna rooms. Eurohostel staff have also set up a nature-like sound system at the sauna so the guests can enjoy a more soothing experience.

If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen!

On the first floor next to Eurohostel’s reception area, Katajanmarja restaurant is opened for breakfast on weekdays from 7AM to 10.30AM and during weekend from 8AM to 11AM. Though there is already a kitchen on each floor where you can cook anytime, guests do come here to enjoy breakfast, dinner or snacks at lower price range (9 EUR / 10 USD) than in local restaurants.

There are plenty of options for breakfast such as scrambled eggs, sausages, meatballs, porridge, beans in tomato sauce, etc. served with different kinds of bread and muesli. For dinner, the main courses are burger, soup, pizza or pasta. Katajanmarja also opens its bar from 4PM to midnight daily. You can even watch a football match on the big screen while drinking Finnish beer.

Why should you choose Eurohostel?

Eurohostel is a member of the big chain HI Hostels that connects thousands of hostel worldwide. Getting a membership card will enable certain discounts for you while staying here. You can also conveniently get tickets to the amusement parks such as Linnanmaki, Sea Life Aquarium, etc.. In addition to essential travel information and recommendations whereby one will be guided through what activities to do as a tourist in Helsinki, you can purchase small souvenirs that are available for sale in the reception area.
