Situated on the Thames River in central London, Tower Bridge is within walking distance of many other popular tourist attractions, including the Tower of London, docks for cruises on the Thames, Borough Market and the Shard. As such, the attraction is easily reachable by train and bus transport links. A ticket to the Tower Bridge Exhibition includes access to a museum section with informative displays and photos related to the history of the bridge and its construction, the Victorian Engine rooms which house the steam engines that once powered the bridge lifts, and the glass floor walkways.

The history of this 120 year old bridge is fascinating, and visitors will find the information in the museum section highly interesting. Guests of all ages will enjoy the old photos and diagrams related to the original construction of this famous bridge. Information is also posted in the glass floor walkways, including everything from a guide labeling famous buildings that can be seen from the walkway to a list of types of fish that live in the Thames River!

Highlight of the Exhibition: the thrilling glass floor walkway

The informative section of the Exhibition that relates the history of the bridge is captivating. The Victorian Engine Rooms are highly interesting as well; imagining these now-antique engines having once been used to draw the bridge for boats to pass is intriguing and curious. However, the most thrilling and highly-anticipated portion of the Tower Bridge Exhibition is the glass floor walkway. Not for guests with a fear of heights, a stroll along the glass floor of the walkway will treat you to outward views of other famous London landmarks from the windows, as well as downward views of cars, double decker buses and tiny-looking pedestrians moving across the bridge underneath your feet.

Plan your visit for the optimal experience

Tickets for the Tower Bridge Exhibition are relatively affordable, especially compared to many other attractions in the city. Tickets can be purchased online ahead of time for a slight discount: 9 GBP (13.68 USD) at the ticket counter for adults becomes 8 GBP (12.16 USD) online. Children between ages 5 and 15 enter at a discounted price, as do students. The exhibition is open every day of the year excluding December 24, 25 and 26, and with slightly limited hours October through March.

For a special experience, plan your visit to coincide with a bridge lift time, so you can watch from above as the drawbridge rises underneath your feet to allow a boat to pass through. A full schedule of these times can be found on the official website. Private group tours are also available with pre-booking. Finally, the glass floor walkway areas can even be hired out as a breathtakingly unique venue for corporate events, luncheons, and even weddings!

I am a London tour guide and my tours include talking about people who have shaped the city plus the many connected places such as Hampton Court Palace, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the commercial centre of the city: the City of London, and London’s world class museums and galleries. I have been guiding for 12 years. I am a licenced London Blue Badge Tour Guide, a City of London Guide, and a Westminster Guide. The reviews I receive from clients speak of their enjoyment from the local knowledge and the humour I bring to my tours. Born within sight of Hampton Court Palace, I am a Londoner and apart from 2 years in the Middle East, I have worked in this capital city all my business and tour guiding careers. I have travelled widely and I appreciate what appeals to visitors coming to London. I can tailor my tours to interest children. I guide couples, families and larger tour groups. I particularly enjoy visits to Westminster Abbey, where I also volunteer guiding students and children through its wonderful interior – on my tours you will hear about monarchs, why scientists and poets are remembered, the architecture and religious history. The Abbey is the story of England. Come on an engaging and fun tour with me. There is so much to show you !
