The town of Pagosa Springs can be found in a valley deep in the San Juan mountain range and is a veritable Shangri-la where visitors come looking for escape and healing. The name Pagosa is drawn from the native Southern Ute word “pagosah,” which means “healing waters.” Pagosa is home to the Mother Spring, the Guinness World Records titleholder for being the deepest geothermal hot spring. Selfie-holics can try catching that perfect snapshot at any scenic waterfall near the town, such as Treasure Falls or Piedra Falls. Boozehounds can also check out local breweries, such as Riff Raff Brewing Company, for special and artisanal brews.
