Since the day of its establishment in 2008, this authentic Italian restaurant has reached the priority of foodies in Philadelphia. This restaurant gives you two menus, one is regular, the other is gluten-free, and with the usual main course items and appetizers, they can unbelievably recreate the same recipes in gluten-free versions, including pasta and pizzas. They also have listed pure vegan and total vegetarian names on its menu, thus Giorgio On Pine can be said a better option for gluten-free eaters, vegan, and vegetarians. The restaurant has rustic trattoria (authentic Italian eatery) décor, and guests can bring their own bottle with them.

2. Sazon Restaurant & Café

Sazon Restaurant should be your choice if you’re on a quest of home-styled Venezuelan food in Philadelphia. This restaurant is run by a couple, the husband is American and the wife is from a family of home-cooks from Venezuela, and they are now running this restaurant for more than 15 years. The wonderful fact about Venezuelan kitchen is that their almost entire cuisine is gluten-free, they cook in either olive or corn oil, their national bread Arepa is made with maize dough instead of wheat or rye. At Sazon, one can order Venezuelan supper, appetizers, sides, desserts, and also drinks, guests can come with their bottle too. The best part for the last, this restaurant is incredibly inexpensive.

5. Fox & Son Fancy Corn Dogs

The funnel cakes, corndogs, and poutine (all gluten-free) are just some of the many particularities of Fox & Son, hands-down this place is one of the best bistros in town for someone who has Celiac disease. People with Celiac have to forever suppress their desire to bite some best tastes, if such a case is with you or someone you know, be ready for a surprise. The many reviews told us that even the gluten-eaters couldn’t tell the difference with the gluten-free funnel cakes and poutine at Fox & Son, thus people with this disease should be able to enjoy their first of many things in years if they just pay a visit. Only one fact is unfortunate with this restaurant, it is their opening hours. They close this awesome place pretty early in the evening.

6. Rex 1516

Editor's Note: Photo taken from the establishment's official social account

If someone wishes to satisfy their taste buds, they should come at Rex 1516. It’s a southern inspired eatery in Philadelphia that has a comprehensive menu, featuring brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks. The interesting part about this restaurant is that they have most of their Tex-Mex options in gluten-free version too. However please be advised that while taking every caution to not trigger a person’s gluten allergies, they do not have separate fryers for different types of eaters. Thus, it finally depends on the level of sensitivity, although people didn’t report any such complaints. If your Celiac case is worst, simply avoid eating here.

7. The Couch Tomato Café, Manayunk

Editor's Note: Photo taken from the establishment's official social account

Along with people with gluten allergies, we would like to suggest this restaurant to people who are excessively conscious of their overall meals. The Couch Tomato has a clear notion to utilize only the fresh, organic and locally grown produce in this restaurant, thus if their resourcing gets delayed, you would probably have to leave without dining. Everything that they use is natural, free of antibiotic (including meats), as far as their vegetarian supplies are concerned it’s GMO-free too.

8. Slice Pizza

Editor's Note: Photo taken from the establishment's official social account

Slice is another B.Y.O.B (bring your own bottle) type pizzeria on our list, which is gluten-free and chemical-free. This restaurant also utilizes only organic and naturally grown produce, but one step ahead, Slice’s kitchen would only take in free-range animals (chicken and beef). No ingredient in their kitchen is artificial, it’s a must visit restaurant if someone is overly careful about his health. The menu is comprehensive but notable things are pizzas, stromboli, and calzone, of which every pizza can be served in the gluten-free variant.

9. SouthHouse

South house is a restaurant and bar, and this can be an ideal choice for someone searching for New-American taste in Philadelphia. The food customization is the particularity of this place, and people can entirely tailor their food orders, like they can choose their plate, the amount of protein they need, their choice of dip, and can pay the average of the overall cost of that mix. Furthermore, the first thing your server would ask you here is if you have some kind of food allergies, so that they can take precautions. Several types of gluten-free brunch, lunch, and dinners are available.

10. P.S. & Co.

Plenty of restaurant names have been shared on this list, which was rather similar, thus at the final spot of our list, we are taking a special entry - Pure Sweets & Company. This restaurant proudly announces that it is 100% vegan, 0% GMO, fully organic, and lists only the gluten-free items in its menu. The remarkable feature of P.S. & Co. should be its collection of cold-pressed juices, beverages, desserts, and sweets. Since sweets and beverages have hardly any gluten, one can satisfy his sweet tooth as well. All the sweets, cakes, and juices can be customized here.

P.S. & Co.

Address: 1706 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103

This list isn’t just for Celiacs

Although the subject is still under trial, some clinical reports have indicated that taking a gluten-free diet helps in the treatment of autism, then there are many types of wheat allergies when people have to eat gluten-free without having celiac, and also bloating or abdominal pain are some situation during which a doctor would suggest to skip taking heavy and gluten for a day or two. It’s a fact that gluten doesn’t worth much in our nourishment, and it is also not at all essential to the non-celiacs. Thus, everyone should try eating gluten-free meals more, it may not be essential but it’s not harmful either.
