Deemed as one of the best courses in Alaska, Moose Run Golf Course is America’s Northernmost 36-Hole Golf Facility. There are two courses: Hill Course is located on walkable gentle rolling hills; and Creek Course has Ship Creek meandering through and along the holes. Positioned strategically at the base of the Chugach Mountains, you’ll enjoy gorgeous views on either course. As you walk toward your ball, you might catch sight of some native animals like the black bear, lynx, or moose. This course is also great for newbies as it has a large driving range, two grass chipping ranges, and three practice putting greens.

Wasilla is home to the largest sled dog race in North America, but another popular sport is golf. Settlers Bay Golf Course is located 8 miles (around 13 kilometres) from Wasilla. It also houses Alaska’s only residential golf community at Fairway Estates. It is an 18-hole championship golf course boasting the majestic views of Chugach Mountain Range. The front nine can be challenging but the back is relatively flat with a challenging 18th hole. After your game, head over to The Albatross Restaurant, a family-oriented restaurant set in a timber-framed clubhouse open during the summer. It serves amazing artisanal food with a view to match.

4. Chena Bend Golf Course, Fort Wainwright
Ideal for all golfing enthusiasts, Chena Bend Golf Course is a world-class course spanning 6,476 yards (5,922 metres). Nuzzled between the east end of Fort Wainwright airfield and the Chena Bend River, it is a par-72, 18-hole course with a 24-hour driving range. Kenai is located in a coastal region southwest of Anchorage. Known for fishing and sandy beaches, golfers will also be excited to hear that there is a verdantly green (considering it’s Alaska) golf course here too. The 18-hole Kenai Golf Course spans 6,816 yards (6,232.5 metres) and presents a challenge to golfers of every skill level. As you play your round of golf, be sure to keep a lookout for sandhill cranes, moose, and bald eagles as they frequent this course quite often. If you are a beginner, do sign up for their clinics (available for men, women, and children) and lessons.

The hub of Kodiak Island is in Kodiak, one of the seven communities on the large island on the south coast of Alaska. If you are looking for entertainment, golf is a good choice. Bear Valley Golf Course presents you with 2,805 yards (2,565 meters) of well-groomed fairways and greens. The nine-hole course is operated by the US Coast Guard.
