Mitte is the historic core of Berlin, which was once divided into East and West by Berliner Mauer (Berlin Wall). The most central borough of the German capital was founded as a settlement in the 13th century. It boasts an urban park that used to be a hunting ground of the Prussian kings. Humboldt Forum, a reconstructed Baroque palace, is a unique and cosmopolitan venue for exhibitions and discussions of art, culture, and science. If you’re into fashion, you’ll have a fascinating time at the vintage shops of Hackescher Markt. Another key landmark in Mitte is the imposing neo-Renaissance Reichstag parliament building with a modern glass dome.
