First of all: its location. This budget hotel is only five minutes away from Jakarta’s main train station, Gambir, providing easy access to any other part of this metropolitan city. Besides, it only takes you six minutes to get to Jakarta Inner Ring Road, the main highway that will take you straight to Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Indonesia’s main airport. These reasons alone should be enough to convince you to book this budget hotel.

I personally chose Ibis Budget Jakarta Tanah Abang after browsing through some hotel booking apps and websites. This one is not the cheapest in the area, but it definitely offers the best value for its price. Shall we take a look inside?

Compact yet super comfy room

It is easy to spot this hotel from the street, thanks to its white-and-blue chic exterior design. The same vibe will welcome you inside, even as you step inside the elevator that will take you to your room. The check-in process is simple and quick, especially if you have already booked and paid online. There are trolleys you can use to carry your luggage to your room. If you need any help, ask the reception desk or the security guard in the lobby area.

Ibis Budget Jakarta Tanah Abang offers smoking and non-smoking room, with plenty of bed options. Each is equipped with a soft bed, fresh blanket, pillows, and even bolsters. The interior design is also chic and sleek. Though small, there’s enough room to walk around. There is also a small window overlooking the city, where you can see skyscrapers and traffic around.

Shower booth and water closet

A modern and sleek sink is attached in the middle of the bedroom. Next to it, you will find a rain shower booth with great water pressure and a liquid soap container attached. The toilet is separated inside a water closet next to the shower booth. I personally liked this design because it meant the toilet remained dry (unlike typical bathrooms in Indonesia). Toilet paper, fresh towels, and face towels are provided. Both the sink and the shower have hot water.

Not the amenities you would expect from a budget hotel!

A flat-screen TV with international channels in front of the bed is a great addition to your lazy day in Jakarta. There is no closet to put your stuff, but there is a space to hang some of your clothes and there are plenty of surfaces near the bed to put your important belongings.

Every room is air-conditioned, which is essential in Jakarta where the temperature can go up to 40 degrees celsius. And a remote is provided to control the AC from the convenience of your bed. The hotel provides bottled water every day, but there is also a hot-and-cold water dispenser you can use for free in the hallway.

Another thing that you will not find in most budget hotels is the in-room spa service. Yes, you can enjoy a relaxing spa session in your own bedroom! So, grab one before you retire to your room, pick the service you want, and call the reception to make an appointment from the bedroom phone. It’s that easy! They charge around 200.000 IDR (14.6 USD) per hour. Ask the reception desk for special discounts.

Another reason why I chose Ibis Budget Jakarta Tanah Abang is that it’s the only budget hotel in the area with a workout facility. Some of us need to maintain our fitness routine even during a vacation. So, a workout is a must, especially after devouring a bowl of Soto Betawi and a full plate of Nasi Uduk, two of Jakarta’s most popular dishes. Since Jakarta’s air is highly polluted, an indoor workout facility is essential for fitness junkies.

Get up early for a quick breakfast

As mentioned before, most people visiting Jakarta are here for a quick visit, mostly for business. These people tend to start their day as early as possible.
