Renowned as an icon of the city, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. This wrought-iron sculpture was opened in 1889 for the World Fair, and today is one of the most recognizable features of the Parisian skyline, as well as one of the most-visited monuments in the world. The tower has three levels which visitors can access, as well as two delectable restaurants, and provides spectacular panoramas of the city from the uppermost platform! Even if you don’t fancy ascending to the top of the monument, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy this photogenic attraction. Pack a picnic and lounge in the Champs de Mars, a large park in front of the tower, or stop by at night and watch as 20,000 light bulbs set the tower ablaze in glittery illuminations for five minutes every hour.

This clever optical illusion makes a cool addition to any social media feed! The Sinking House is located in the neighborhood of Montmartre, and is close to Sacré-Coeur, another of the area’s famous attractions. The vibrant house juts into view behind a bank of grass as you climb up the hill towards Sacré-Coeur. To replicate the unique image, simply take the picture at a 45-degree angle or tilt the photo later if you prefer to edit your shots. When the grassy bank is tilted to look level, the ornate house behind it appears to be sinking into the ground!

Sacré-Cœur sits like the crowning jewel atop of Paris on the highest hill in Montmartre. This Roman Catholic church is formally known as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, and was consecrated in 1919. A stunning example of Romano-Byzantine architecture, the white Travertine stone turns luminous in the sunshine, and the light dances in colorful shafts as it filters in through a beautiful stained glass window. The interior of the basilica also features the Mosaic of Christ in Glory, which is one of the largest mosaics in the world! The vibrant houses on this quiet street make a picturesque backdrop for any photograph. Rue Crémieux is a charming little lane that looks quite unlike any other street in the city. While the rest of Paris abounds in Haussmann-style architecture, the houses on Rue Crémieux pop in pastel colors and feature decorative trompes l’œil, an art style that turns ornamental images into fanciful optical illusions. This peaceful street has been gaining popularity as one of the city’s secret scenic spots, so it is best to visit early or on a weekday to avoid larger crowds. Also, remember that this charming street houses real people, so please be respectful!
