Irvine Spectrum Center is on the southeast end of Irvine, California and is a huge outdoor mall. With so many things to see and do, you might not even feel like you’re really at a mall. Known for its huge Ferris wheel, it took over 10 years for the project to be completed, and now there’s a movie theater, skating rink, and elaborate holiday displays during the winter months The property itself was designed to look similar to the iconic Alhambra in Grenada, Spain, with a large white obelisk and the word “spectrum” projected onto it. Irvine is a beautiful little city right outside Los Angeles, so if you’re in the area here is a guide to Irvine Spectrum Center.

Irvine Spectrum Center might seem like more of an amusement park rather than a shopping center. Bordering on both of those, you can get all your shopping done here while also having some fun.

Ride the Ferris wheel

The iconic Ferris wheel was added in 2002 and now many people can’t think of Irvine Spectrum Center without it. The lights on the wheels light up every night in an amazing display, with over 50,000 LED lights all intricately designed to dazzle and amaze, even if you’re not riding it. Hop on the wheel and snap a few shots of Orange County in the distance - the top offers a beautiful sight of the landscape.

Go to Irvine Improv

Located right in the heart of Irvin Spectrum Center is Irvine Improv. Some of the biggest comedians come here to perform, so make sure to check out their calendar in advance to see who’s coming to town. You might be able to see a big name in this semi-intimate setting. Seating up to 490 patrons, they also have a lauded food menu and a full bar on-site.

See a movie at Regal Irvine Spectrum

What’s better than catching a movie with some friends? Regal Irvine Spectrum is the on-site movie theater showcasing some of the newest films on screen. Featuring IMAX theaters, reclining chairs, and reserved seating, an evening out has never been more comfortable and exciting.
