Lucca is one of the most sought-after cities in Tuscany because of its undeniable charm and easily accessible location. It features some iconic attractions, such as Piazza dell'Anfiteatro and Guinigi Tower. To discover local arts and culture, visit Puccini Museum or attend Lucca Summer Festival. The churches are also hard to miss. Lucca Cathedral, which combines different architectural styles, is an excellent example. Moreover, local food is quite compelling. Castagnaccio is a signature local dessert that every tourist should try. If you plan to stay for a couple of weeks or months, check out the best long-term rentals in Lucca, Italy, below.
Tip from tour guide
During your extended stay in Lucca, you can visit Puccini Museum, the birth home of a famous composer, Giacomo Puccini. His well-known operas are La bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and the unfinished, Turandot.
The museum was inaugurated in 1979 and restored in 2011. It hosts some original furniture, a lot of Puccini's letters, pictures, paintings, sketches, scores, gifts, and some recent costumes for his operas. The real jewel is the original Steinway & Sons piano purchased by Puccini.
The composer's life was very interesting. He was a foodie, a heavy smoker and drinker, a womanizer, and passionate about hunting, fast cars, and boats. What I missed in the museum was the unconventional side of his story. I found it very politically correct and somehow boring.
We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) host status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, decor, availability of dates, and long-term stay rules and regulations.
