America has a long-standing love affair with trains. The steam engines of the early 1800s chugged cheerfully along winding tracks. Soon enough passengers and freights were being ferried from east to west, north to south by more powerful engines. You can fly in a state-of-the-art aircraft or drive in a muscle car, but nothing beats the nostalgia and charm of a scenic train ride through tunnels and along mountain flanks. Rail travel is still a great alternative to congested roads, and while air travel is faster you have a better point of view from a commuter train seat to watch the world go by. Traveling in style is always an option for those who can afford it. Experience a train ride leveled up many notches higher with our guide to the top luxury trains in the United States.

This campaign, aptly named Steam in the Valley is an annual tradition for CVSR and partner organizations.
