Located in southern Thailand, along the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin began as a quiet fishing village and has seen tremendous growth over the past few decades and has grown into a tourist hot spot. Enjoy time spent on the shores of Hua Hin Beach, where you can learn to kitesurf or partake in various other water sports. Other outdoor activities you might look into include exploring Pran Buri Forest Park or Kaeng Krachan National Park, where you can take boat rides and bask in the scenery. You can stay in beachfront hotels in the Hua Hin District. If you prefer a homey setting, there are also Airbnb vacation rentals in Hua Hin that come with amazing amenities.

Once evening comes around, though, there’s an exploration of a different kind you should look into. Night markets are a popular way to spend the evening in Thailand and a great way for visitors to get a glimpse of Thai culture. Listed below are some of the best night markets for you to check out during your trip to Hua Hin, Thailand.

Hua Hin Night Market has everything you could ask for in such a shopping venue, with food and drinks, including cocktails or beer, available to shoppers. The street, Petchkasem Road, turns into the night market at 6:00 pm, but the action doesn’t truly get moving until about 7:00 pm. Like most Thai markets, you’ll find a wide variety of clothing options, arts and crafts, as well as CDs and DVDs for purchase. The street is lined primarily with seafood restaurants, allowing you to grab a bite to eat as you shop your way down the street. In fact, many consider the food here to be one of the best parts of this particular night market. So, grab some crab legs and a beer, you’ve got some shopping to do!

One of the most popular night markets among the locals of Hua Hin, the Grand Night Market runs Wednesday through Saturday and is a great place to experience Thailand. Here, you’re likely to find items typical of a flea market, including clothing and accessories, DVDs and fruit stands. The Grand Night Market has two distinct sections and most of these items can usually be found in the front section. Head into the back section and you’ll find an area that has a more trendy and artsy vibe to it. You’re more likely to find handmade items here and there is an air-conditioned area with even more shops, bars and a fish spa. If you’re hungry while shopping at Grand Night, you’ll be happy to know street food is plentiful, mostly featuring Thai cuisine.

Cicada Market is a bit different than the other night markets, as it has a keen focus on art. The market is divided into four sections: Art a la Mode, Art Indoors, Art of Act and Art of Eating. Most of the outdoor space at Cicada is taken up by the Art a la Mode section, which features vendors selling clothing and handmade accessories, as well as other decorative items. Art Indoors is all about works of art for sale which include paintings and sculptures. It should come as no surprise that Art of Eating involves, well, food. Enjoy all kinds of food here, such as salads, pastas, BBQ and sweet treats in the open-air dining area.

Art of Act is an area of Cicada that provides local talent a venue at which they can showcase their skills. Past performances include dance groups, music bands and pantomimes. Be sure to plan your trip carefully if you’d like to check the Cicada Market out, as it is only open during the evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The second section is the part of the market where you can purchase your goods. Here, you’ll find items such as clothing, handmade items and home decor. Another area of Chatsila Night Market you’ll want to visit is the second floor of a remodeled bungalow. 5. Tamarind Night Market

Named for the trees that surround the venue, the Tamarind Night Market is located quite close to Cicada Market and is fairly similar in its offerings. Like many of the these markets, Tamarind has a few distinct areas. The front of the market features a plethora of dining options and a large dining area to chow down on some food. From your seat, you will be able to enjoy the live music before doing a bit of shopping. The back area of the market is close to the parking lot and is considered more “local” in that the food here is less flashy, but still as a delicious, and oftentimes cheaper. You’ll also find wares for purchase, including clothing and various other items. Like Cicada, Tamarind is only open during weekend evenings and, being so close together, they make a great set of markets to visit in a single night!

Hua Hin Night Bazaar isn’t quite as big as the Hua Hin Night Market, which makes it much easier to walk and navigate around.
