Westerners might not be aware that it’s not Hollywood that produces the most movies around, it’s actually India. Indian cinema is huge with some people being familiar with “Bollywood” cinema but a second place to that is “Tollywood”. The amalgamation of “Telugu” and “Hollywood”, Tolly produces the second most amount of film in India behind Bollywood and a majority of those films are produced in the Ramoji Film City or places nearby. The Ramoji Film City is open to movie makers and tourists alike so if you’re in the area and you’re curious about Indian film, here is a guide to Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad.
Things to do

Ramoji Film City is a massive complex that is just as much for film production as it is for tourism and fun. The site has a lot of great things on the huge 1666-acre (647-hectare) complex, including hotels, theme parks, and of course movie sets. The massive park allows for massive amounts of people to come by and Ramoji Film City brings in over 1 million guests per year. There is a range of sets guests can see as well as 47 different sound stages, temples and even its own railway.
Film City Tour
One of the biggest attractions at the Ramoji Film City is, of course, taking a tour of filming ground! The tour operates out a vintage bus, where you’ll be chauffeured around the massive complex and taken to different filming locations and destinations. Check the spots where some famous Tollywood celebrities shot some iconic scenes and explore the world through various film sets! Princess Street is designed to be an “international” avenue with houses and cityscape while North Town is made to look like a typical Northern Indian city. Explore the Japanese Garden and lounge in the pagodas then moments later step back in time to Mughal Empire at the elaborate Mughal Garden.
Sahas Adventure Park
Taking cues from places like Universal Studios, Ramoji Film City has its own amusement park on-site. The Sahas Adventure Park makes you feel like you’re part of your own film or are a stuntman with the sheer amount of adventure you can have here. Ride ATVs through the mud, play a few rounds of paintball or bungee jump off a cliff all on the same day. All those activities just scratch the surface of what you can do at Sahas Adventure Park.
