Boasting a view to die for, the stunning roof gardens of the Mirabelle - which are located seven floors up within the luxurious Hotel Splendide Royal - would make for the perfect setting for a romantic meal with your significant other. Head chef Stefano Marzetti offers a menu which features a mix of Mediterranean dishes - including pasta, fish and regional delicacies. There are also options for vegetarians and those seeking to eat gluten-free. And, as well as the main dining area, the restaurant also features a large terrace which really maximises the view out across the city - one which can still be enjoyed on colder days thanks to large window enclosures. Being a photographer, I would love to visit and click some panoramic pictures from here.

Those looking to change things up a bit, and take a break from Rome’s dizzying array of Mediterranean eateries, may wish to give the Shinto Sky View a look. This sushi restaurant, which has been running for more than a decade, has built up a national reputation and has proven a popular dining spot for many a visitor to the Eternal City. Indeed, past restaurant-goers were as much a fan of the food on offer as the views across the city’s rooftops. And those who wish to take their dining experience further will find much to enjoy in the restaurant’s masterclasses and ‘academy’, which explore the history behind sushi and teach the techniques to whip up your own dishes.
