While the city offers a diverse array of shops, restaurants, malls, edifices, parks, and many other tourist attractions, the city isn’t really known for snowboarding. However, there are a lot of great snowboarding places that you can check out from the city, especially in Southern Ontario and Upstate New York. 1. Glen Eden


Situated at the heart of the Niagara Escarpment and just a drive away from Toronto, Glen Eden is a great place to snowboard and play with snow near the city. It can be found on the left side when you are driving up the hill along the Highway 401 while heading westwards. The snowboarding park is in a small hill within the Kelso Conservation District. It features a 240-foot (73.15-meter) vertical drop that provides a short yet steep run, making it a very challenging terrain to snowboard. There’s also an area exclusive for beginners where they can learn the basics of snowboarding and start with the lower slopes first.

2. Hockley Valley Resort

Featuring a 375-foot (114-meter) vertical drop, the Hockley Valley Resort is also among the best ski resorts in Ontario. It can be found just along the road from Horseshoe Resort. Four lifts service the vertical drop, and two of the lifts come with quad chairs. Snowboard enthusiasts and even professionals prefer this ski resort because of its well-equipped terrain park that comes with several obstacles, including rails, tabletops, boxes, park benches, and even picnic tables.

If spending the whole day skiing, snowboarding, and having fun on the snow won’t suffice, then the resort also offers cozy and luxurious boutique accommodation and a spacious base lodge right at the base of the hill. 3. Lakeridge Ski Resort


Another great ski hill located just near Toronto is the Lakeridge Ski Resort in Uxbridge, Ontario. It is located 60 to 70 kilometers (37 to 44 miles) away from Toronto and just around an hour of driving away from the city — making it an excellent destination for a day trip with your family and friends. The ski hill features a 300-foot (91.44-meter) vertical drop and 23 runs that is scattered around the 70-acre (28-hectare) land area with a lushly wooded terrain. The hill features several exhilarating runs, which includes a snowcross run and a banked slalom run that will surely test the skills of skiers of all levels. To go down the hill, a skier might want to cross one of the two terrain parks and a snow tubing area. The runs are also serviced by 2 quad chairlifts, a magic carpet, and a handle tow. There’s also a day lodge within the ski resort where you can rent all of the necessary skiing equipment, a ski training school, and a storage facility where you can safely keep all of your skiing gear and your personal belongings.

Another great skiing destination near Toronto is the state-owned Mount Chinguacousy Skiing Park. Located within the Donald M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park, the Mount Chinguacousy Skiing Park offers a hectare (2.5-acre) for everyone to enjoy alpine skiing and snowboarding on its high man-made hill that has a 21-meter (68-feet) vertical drop. Featuring a 188-meter (617-foot) run, the ski park is equipped with several snowmaking facilities and night skiing. There’s also a magic carpet ski lift, some beginner slopes on both sides of the lip, a chalet, and a rental shop right at the base of the hill. The ski park is known to be the only ski hill in Brampton. Adjacent to the ski park is other sports facilities, including a curling facility, winterized tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, sailing, mini golf, lush gardens, a greenhouse, petting zoo, pony rides, playgrounds, and skateboard and BMX park.
