Do you want to see a colourful park with a lot of lanterns in it? Just visit Jogya Lantern Park (Taman Pelangi / Rainbow Park) at night. There are lanterns everywhere, shaped like animals, flowers, buildings, animation characters and, of course, lantern shapes themselves. Besides those, there are a lot of sparkles and lights along the way in the park. Lantern Park has been established since the 17th of December 2011, located at Jogja Kembali Monument Park and only open at night. The Jogja Kembali Monument is a museum about the war to take back Yogyakarta from colonialists, and it is open for the public from morning until afternoon. After the museum closes, the museum park become a colourful and sparkly place to hang out for families and young couples.
Colourful lanterns along the way
Lantern Park has 2 entries to go inside; you can either go through the west gate or east gate. But, to get a nice view of the lanterns, the east gate entry is better because you are directly welcomed by the rainbow gate that is made from lanterns. After walking through the rainbow gate, you can see colourful lanterns along the way, with various shapes and sparkly colourful trees that light the way.
Playing, having dinner, and taking pictures in the park
Inside the park, you can enjoy various street food while sitting on the bench and watching kids playing. The park provides several entertainment activities, such as live music and games. You can try to play on the bungee trampoline, or go to the haunted house. For kids, this park has bumper cars, water balls, a mini train, water becak (3-wheeled bicycle), rowing boats, and bicycle rides. You also can take pictures with beautiful decorations made from lanterns as a background. There are a lot of decorations inside the park that you can choose to make wonderful pictures.

Lantern Park opens from 5 PM to 10 PM on Monday to Thursday, and until 11 PM on Friday to Sunday. You don’t need to spend a lot of money because the entry ticket is very cheap! You just pay 15,000 IDR (about 1.2 USD) per person on Monday - Thursday, and 20,000 IDR (about 1.5 USD) per person on Friday - Sunday and holidays.
It is easy to go to Lantern Park, because it is a famous place located near to Adi Sucipto Airport and Tugu train station.
Have a romantic night around the sparkly lights
Visiting Lantern Park at night is amazing, but you have to prepare your transportation because there is no public transportation at night, except by taxi. It is better for you to drive your own car or use a taxi. Many taxis park outside the Lantern Park.
It is romantic to spend the night at Lantern Park with your loved one and take nice pictures there. But the pictures will look even better if you can set the camera for night vision. Capture the romantic moments in amazing scenery!
