British Columbia
If you’re planning a west coast trip to Canada, now is the perfect time to organise it. Starting in March, Whistler enjoys longer days, clearer skies, and is the perfect ski and board destination for its powdery coastal snow. Victoria’s cherry blossoms are a big, popular event in the spring. They are an impressive site that you can enjoy while strolling the beautiful downtown area with its mild weather. The Okanagan Valley, found in the southern interior part of BC, is one of the warmest regions in all of Canada. It features the Naramata Bench, Oliver’s Golden Mile (known for wine tasting), renowned golf courses, and watersports on Okanagan Lake that will have you, your friends, and loved ones busy with all kinds of warm weather activities. Bike or hike along the lakes, farms, and vineyards on the Kettle Valley Railway. Then ride a horse at Sundance Guest Ranch in Ashcroft with 1,000 open acres to roam.
Quebec
With the snow starting to melt, visitors start to flock to the province while locals tap the trees and sugar shacks pop up, especially in the rural Laurentians. Festivities during this time means you can eat hearty treats doused in their famous, delicious maple syrup. Since spring is a quieter season, you’ll get to experience the gorgeous architecture and greenery without dealing with the crowds. Stroll through Quebec City’s many parks and the vibrant downtown area where you can see the flowers begin to bloom. Montreal will make you feel like you’ve entered a whole new world. Don’t miss its Montreal Biodome, Notre Dame Basilica, and the Musee des Beaux Arts de Montreal.
Ontario
Spring is a great time to enjoy the area’s wildflowers, the arrival of many species of birds, the beginning of fishing season, and it’s perfect for romantic and golf getaways. Consider a road trip north where Trillium grows wild. This is also where the internationally recognized attraction Niagara Falls is. Aside from that, you can take a tour and sample the sips crafted by local wineries for a great spring break. Toronto is where you want to go for urban sophistication and big-city culture. This is where to shop, see art shows, museums, eat, and drink. Don’t miss the Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa that is alive with music, parades, fireworks, and more!
Alberta
The Canadian Rockies of Alberta get a lot of spring snow, but also have sunny, crisp days. Head to Sunshine Village near Calgary - it has everything and is just 20-minutes from Banff. Ski all day and try other activities like sleigh rides, ice skating, and snow shoeing. Then go shopping, pamper yourself at the spa, drink and dine, then dance the night away. Or just lounge and soak in the famed hot springs nearby or in your own hot tub in your home-away-from-home. If you have time, experience one of the most scenic drives in the world at Icefields Parkway, along Highway 93.
Yukon
You’ll know it’s spring here when swans appear on the Yukon River. Spring is a prime time for wildlife spotting, especially the great caribou migration. Drive the historic Dempster Highway where you can observe these majestic creatures. You might also see grizzlies, Dall sheep, and moose. Spring is the perfect season to ski through the last of the snow, drive along scenic highways, or jump into the lake after the ice melts if you’re brave enough.
Whether you’re looking for an adventure-filled break or a mellow trip to take in the stunning surroundings, chances are, Canada’s got it. So let spring bring you outdoors to enjoy the blossoms of all that Canada has to offer.
