If you’re a beginner, one of the best surfing spots around Miami is South Beach. Usually, it’s from July until November that you can find decent waves to be able to surf in the area. The surf conditions here are not consistent, though, which is not ideal if you’re trying to up your skills. It is really a suitable surf spot if you’re trying to get off the ground and learn the basics. Nevertheless, you’ll enjoy a laid-back surf session here once in a while.

For someplace to surf near Miami, Spoils in Fort Lauderdale is really where it’s at for experienced and skilled surfers. This consistent surf area is located just north of the Port Everglades Inlet. Hurricane season usually affects the city come September to October, which provides extreme tides for surfing only for experts. Its best swell direction is northeast, the best wind direction is northwest, and the best tides are the rising or incoming tides. Surfers would have to paddle about 200 meters (656 feet) to get to the take-off point. With the extreme surfing conditions at Spoils, you can expect that not many people frequent the area.
