Downtown Kuta has long been considered as the center of Bali, and it sure is the most crowded area in Bali; packed with shops, restaurants, and loud bars. You may wonder if there is a decent place to stay in downtown Kuta that is close to everywhere in the district, yet still affordable and free from all the noise. Hmm, it seem like a very difficult hotel to find, but surprisingly, the answer is yes! The Oasis Hotel meets all of those requirements!

The Oasis, centrally located yet serene

Welcome to the Oasis, a serene hotel in central Kuta. You’ll find that this is a boutique hotel located on a narrow street, several meters away from the bigger road, where fewer vehicles pass through. The parking space is in front of the hotel, and the swimming pool as well as the other rooms are located at the back part of the hotel, quite far from the street. As a result, you won’t hear any sound of motorized vehicles from inside the hotel. With no loud bars in a 100 meter range (328 ft), you are guaranteed serenity in this hotel.

There’s a large swimming pool inside

From the front, this hotel doesn’t look too promising due to the limited space for parking and narrow road access. However, as you enter the hotel you will find they actually have a big swimming pool (no children’s pool) surrounded by 2-storey buildings (SURPRISE…SURPRISE!), which is something you are not likely to expect. Swimming here is nice during the day. Even at noon, there is always a cool area in the pool where there is no direct sunlight. There are loungers by the pool, and the Wi-Fi signal is the strongest when accessed from this area; you can relax and chat with your friends back home by using social media! It’s a good way to swim and spend your time in Kuta without getting sunburned, isn’t it?

Decent and quiet room

Rates start from 35 USD for the pool view rooms on the second floor, and if you want to have direct access to the pool area from your room, stay in a pool access room for 39 USD on the first (ground) floor. Rooms are air conditioned and quiet. The only thing you can hear from outside is the sound of splashing water, or children playing in the swimming pool. Amenities include a 32-inch LCD TV, mini fridge, bathing apparatus, and complimentary mineral water. Rooms are cleaned everyday, and each room has an elevated floor with a twin size mattress laid on it, which functions either as a sofa or an extra bed. Having a good night sleep is necessary after venturing into Kuta, or other parts of Bali, and this is something you will easily get in here.

Simple but nice breakfast

You will have a simple breakfast buffet, which normally includes fried rice, white rice, sauteed veggies with meatballs and sausages, chicken satay (barbecued skewered chicken), and steamed fish for the main dishes. There are also different fruits, juices, and beverages (tea and coffee) for you to also choose from. They have a small counter where you can ask the chef to cook you a fried egg. Although there are no stoves to heat the meat and veggies, you can eat them warm as the food is usually eaten up in less than 30 minutes before plates of hot satay and veggies are replenished on the table.

Serene, yet close to everything

The parking space is only enough for 2 cars and a few motorcycles. A few guests ride a motorcycle to get here, but most either walk or take a taxi (you don’t really need a car in Kuta). This hotel is about a 10-minute walk to Kuta’s major attractions like the beach, Discovery Mall and Waterbom Park. In the hotel’s neighborhood you’ll find Sendok & Bar Restaurant (next to the hotel, selling Asian, Western, and Balinese cuisine, and known for its cone-shaped rice), ATM machines, a Circle K mini mart, and some souvenir shops (across the street, selling clothes, paintings etc.). What a strategic location!
