First Cabin Tsukiji was opened on January 28 2015 in a great location just one minute walk away from Tsukiji Station and 5 minutes away from Ginza. Although it’s categorized as a capsule hotel, it has quite stylish women-only floors and a bar with an elegant atmosphere. First Cabin Tsukiji is different than typical capsule hotels and provides great experiences for people who come to Tokyo to try Tsukiji’s delicious food or Ginza’s shopping.

Open the front door and you’ll be surprised at how stylish this capsule hotel is!
First Cabin Tsukiji is built in a convenient location close to popular sightseeing spots such as Tsukiji Fish Market and Ginza. The nearest subway station Tsukiji is just 1 minute walk away, while Ginza is 5 minutes away! Nearby is also one of the facilities planned for Tokyo Olympics 2020 which means that the value of this hotel will be increasing in the coming years.
You’ll be surprised right after you open the front door of First Cabin Tsukiji! The narrow hallway has been turned into a very stylish bar. Not only guests of the hotel, but literally everyone can freely enter this café & bar. In the morning breakfast is served here, but after the check-in time (17:00~) it becomes an open space.
The most surprising thing is that they have a selection of over 80 wine brands (about 50 of which can be ordered in a glass for 500 JPY), cocktails with fresh fruits, highballs, whiskey, bourbon and much more! Appetizers include marinated shrimps and octopus with a Caesar sauce, country-style pate, while a good example of the main dishes is grilled pork boned rib with herbs and spices. The prices are reasonable. There is no charge fee for the table, so you can freely use it as a bar. Lots of newspapers have their offices nearby so in the evenings this place is full of office staff coming to relax after work.
If you drink too much and miss the last train, don’t worry – you can stay in this hotel for a reasonable price!
Information about the bar Open from 5 am to 10 am (only for the guests of the hotel), and from 5 pm to 2 am (with last order at 1:30 am) for everyone
The staff are dressed like flight attendants and can wake you up with a morning call
First Cabin is a chain of 6 hotels in total – Osaka, Kyoto, Haneda Airport, Akihabara, Hakata and the newest one in Tsukiji. The concept of the group is “compact & luxurios”. This is a new type of capsule hotels which offer experiences equal to flying with an airplane in the first class.
Even the uniforms of the staff resemble those worn by flight attendants. They all have a cute scarf tied around the neck.
First Cabin Tsukiji has 24-hour front lobby staff just like in other hotels. The service is very good and includes even morning wake-up calls. Indeed, there are no alarm clocks in this hotel, but if you request, the staff will kindly wake you up with a morning call!
Ordinary capsule hotels are quite simple and without much service offered, but in First Cabin Tsukiji there is a surprising level of luxury.
Japanese-style is the main theme of First Cabin Tsukiji
Every hotel of the group has its own theme. The one in Tsukiji is designed under the theme of “Wa” (Japanese-style). The prevailing colors are red and black, and they create a relaxed mature atmosphere. The walls are decorated with plum tree images and various other elements which evoke the spirit of “Wa”. Each floor has different decorations.
Women-only and men-only floors are separated with security gates. The women-only floors are 7 and 8. You must use the card key given to you during the check-in or there’s no possible way to enter the floor. This is a great service for women who want to relax in peace.
The spacious rooms disproves the image of capsule hotels as tiny
Now let me introduce the rooms. There are two types – business class and a wider first class.
Business class The common image of a capsule hotel is rooms on top of each other, but here there is nothing like that. Each room is 2.1-meter high and good enough to stand straight inside. It’s compact but doesn’t feel claustrophobic. There’s even a security box for putting your valuables. The basic room charge is 5800 JPY (depends on the week day).
First class This is a wide room with a 120-centimeter wide semi-double bed. Under the bed you’ll find a big security box large enough to fit a laptop. You can safely put your valuables there. The basic room charge is 1000 JPY more than the business class.
Both room types have a 32-inch flat TV. You can use headphones and enjoy watching TV without hearing any other noises from outside. There are pajamas, towels and a toothbrush, so you can come without bringing any of those with you.
Some of the rooms can be used for a short 2-hour rest to take a nap or refresh after a bath.
All the basic amenities are there, and you’ll even find a hair straightener!
This hotel has a spacious and light bath and female visitors have access to pearl protein shampoo & rinse brand products by Mikimoto Cosmetics. This is a great care for women’s hair!
The other basic cosmetic products are provided by Shiseido, an internationally known company which foreign guests also recognize and like. There is also a hair straightener which is the type of amenity that always makes women happy! Every floor has a small bathroom and a toilet, so feel free to use the amenities as you like.
One new addition in Tsukiji’s hotel is that there are private changing rooms right next to the shower cabins. You can safely change clothes without worrying about other people watching you.
First Cabin Tsukiji makes your visit to Tokyo even more pleasant
First Cabin Tsukiji is located right next to Tsukiji Station and Tsukiji Fish Market. Those who want to eat breakfast in the market’s delicious sushi bars can wake up early in the morning and try their chance at getting the freshest seafood.
First Cabin Tsukiji completely overturns the image of capsule hotels and plain and inhuman. The guest reviews are very positive and the hotel welcomes many repeaters. If you stay at this stylish hotel, your trip to Tokyo will turn out to be even more pleasant!
Newest information about First Cabin hotels: In the second half of 2015 there are plans for opening First Cabin Shimbashi. That one will be close to Toranomon Hills, an area which is gaining lots of popularity lately. The plans are to design the hotel in pleasant wooden pastel colors, but let’s wait and see what will happen!
