The largest city of Wisconsin, Milwaukee is a modern city that nonetheless has a rich history. As an industrial city, it features a large number of attractions, one of the most prominent being the Harley Davidson Museum, which provides guests not just more information about the motorcycles, but its ties to the area. The Milwaukee Public Market, which is a serious contender of the title of best market in the country, is also worth a visit, as is the Pabst Mansion, which provides visitors with more information not just of the residence, but also of the brewery owned by the Pabst family. But what can visitors do at night? Certainly, there’s the usual nighttime entertainments such as bars and clubs. If, however, you want to try something different, do check this list for fun alternatives of things to do at night in Milwaukee.

1. Investigation of Miss Treedeath

If you love mysteries and thrillers and enjoy the rush of breaking out of escape rooms, this is the adventure for you. “Investigation of Miss Treedeath” is one of the missions offered by Escape MKE. Guests play as detectives who are given 60 minutes to break into Miss Amanda Treedeath’s apartment to look for clues while she is out for questioning on suspicion of murder. Players will need to use all of their wits to find evidence to help in the investigation, otherwise they may end up getting into trouble when the suspect catches them in her home. A host accompanies groups and provides hints and clues if they get stuck. This game is for groups of up to eight people.

2. Mr. Croft's museum

This mission, also from Escape MKE, puts you on the other side of the law. You and your teammates (a maximum of 10 people can play at a time) will play as a gang of thieves tasked with stealing the staff of Tut from Mr. Croft’s museum. You will be given instructions on how to beat the security system by a disgruntled employee of the museum. While the staff is your ultimate goal, you can also take a number of artifacts, as some may actually help you in accomplishing your mission. Be careful though: you are only given 60 minutes to complete your task, otherwise, you may end up getting caught when the guards change!

3. Doctor K's Lethal Injection

If science is one of your passions, check out the Doctor K’s Lethal Injection mission offered by Escape MKE. As CDC agents, your group’s task is to foil the plans of Dr. Kevorkianstein, who plans on infecting the world with a virus he created in the same laboratory that you will be infiltrating. Your mission is to find the doctor’s notes in order to create an antidote within 60 minutes to save the world from the mad scientist. Up to 10 people can be a part of the group playing this game at a time.

4. Unlimited admission to Bounce Milwaukee

Bounce Milwaukee is the place to be if you want to unleash your inner child. Besides getting the chance to go through the inflatable obstacle courses, guests can also enjoy playing laser tag, rock climbing, air hockey, and even vintage video games here. After trying out the various fun activities here, hop in a massage chair to help ease any of your body’s aches and pains. Food and beverages are sold here if you want to take a break after having a good time in the various areas in Bounce Milwaukee.

5. Milwaukee Puzzling Adventure

If escaping from a room is not your thing, how about a game that allows you to find clues around the city? Milwaukee Puzzling Adventure is a walking tour, a scavenger hunt, and a race rolled into one. Players are given clues via a mobile app, and they will need to solve puzzles, many of which may be found in the area they are directed to, before they can get a hint for the next location they need to head to. Players can either join this individually, as a couple, or as a group.

6. Mr. Dupree's office

This is another mission from Escape MKE. Guests will play as elite operatives of the CIA tasked with breaking into the office of Mr. Dupree, an international businessman with shady dealings. Players will need to look for evidence of illegal transactions made to complete the mission. They’ll need to act fast though, because they are only guaranteed 60 minutes before Mr. Dupree returns to his office. A host is ready to lend a hand in case players get stuck solving the puzzles in the game. This escape room challenge is good for up to 10 people.

7. James Bomb

If solving puzzles to escape rooms is not enough excitement for you, consider the James Bomb mission offered by Escape MKE. The game starts with you and your allies (the game is good for 10 people at most) handcuffed in the basement of a World Bank. It turns out that you and your fellow MI6 agents have been caught by Count David of Liverpool while you were on a mission to prevent a terrorist attack. The challenge is for you not just to free yourselves from the shackles, but also find the deactivation mechanism and break out of the room before it blows up. A host provides hints and tips in case you have trouble with some of the puzzles and challenges.

8. Ghastly history of the east side tour

Riding a seven-seater bike is novelty enough, but more so if you do this to explore the dark side of Milwaukee. Learn more about real-life horrifying stories from the city’s past, including tales of the human bodies buried under Lake Park and the cartloads of corpses that were taken care of by men under the influence of money and alcohol. You can even find out about the unsolved mysteries in town from your knowledgeable guide. The tour starts at 7 pm and runs for 1.5 hours.
