Tropical paradise by day and party hub by night, Chaweng - the popular resort town in Koh Samui - has been wowing both sun-seekers and nocturnal beings for quite some time now. While the central part is where you’ll find lots of nightclubs, bars and fireworks, the northern part promises peaceful retreats and deserted beach strips. Located on the northeastern coast of Samui, this part of Thailand is a go-to spot for all kinds of travelers - thrill-seekers, families, couples, and solo flyers - which explains the increasing footfall and growing popularity. Read on to learn about all the different types of things you can do in Chaweng:
1. Chaweng Beach
The most frequented part of this resort town would be its 5-km (16-mile) long stretch of glorious white-sand beach, bordered by offshore reefs and the small neighboring island of Koh Matlam. The peak seasons find this place packed with beach lovers soaking up the tropical rays, lazing with a chilled beer, getting a Thai massage, and indulging in water sports. Vendors patrol the stretch with everything from ice creams to henna tattoos to little trinkets, so you might as well get some shopping done while acquiring the tan. Exuding a fun holiday vibe, Chaweng Beach is easily your happy place (if you don’t mind the crowd) even after the sun goes down, because that’s when the fairy lights and candles come out at the beachfront restaurants, to create a warm, romantic ambiance - a perfect end to your day at the beach.
