To celebrate and promote this maritime history, they have established their own museum called the Bodrum Deniz Müzesi or the Bodrum Maritime Museum. It first opened its doors to the public on October 15, 2011. The museum features a vast collection of seashells from around the world, which were collected for 40 years by Hasan Güleşçi. There’s also a section that commemorates the life and work of Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı, known as the Fisherman of Halicarnassus.
