11. Go snowmobiling on the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail
There’s no better excursion on gloomy winter days than snowmobiling. Luckily, the Big Sky Trail offers some of the best backcountry snowmobiling in Montana. This 40-mile (64 km) trail will start at the north of West Yellowstone, followed by 17 miles (27 km) of groomed trail and 13 miles (21 km) of ‘un-groomed powder’, which extend towards the Sunlight Basin Trail and ends up in the Cabin and Tepee Creek area. The whole journey is exhausting, but the reward is worth it: breathtaking scenery.
