The beach is easily accessible by bus from the closest city center and its the ideal place for snorkeling. There is a village next to the beach, which adds to the lovely experience.

There are also nice shops and lovely restaurants in the surrounding area. Sea turtles can be spotted at certain locations and it is possible to get a tour to see them.

Playa Peiro is situated between Cabo Frio and Buzios. It is a serene and clean beach on the outskirts of Cabo Frio and the best place for a family trip since it has special features for kids. You can rent umbrellas here and there are drinks and food from nearby vendors. Nearby attractions include Praias Das Conchas, the Itajuru Waterway, and the Passagem neighborhood.

3. San Matheus Fort

This is an ideal place to take photos and there is a perfect view of the beach from this spectacular fort. The fort is situated high on a rocky point, close to the bay in Cabo Frio. This is a great place for people who enjoy hiking but not so good if you have mobility issues.

For adventurous individuals, there are war cannons to see and sometimes there is folk art on display for sale. Entry is free and there is food and drink available at the beach concessions.

4. Dunas Beach

This is one of best beaches to visit in Cabo Frio. It is a clean beach with few vendors and the perfect place for families, especially one with teenagers. The blue water here is irresistibly attractive and will be sure to leave lasting memories in your mind. One interesting feature of this beach is that during low tide, there are shallow tidal pools formed here.

There is also an affordable restaurant close by. The sun can be incredibly intense here but it is masked by the strong winds that blow, all day long. The beach is easily accessible and is close to a hotel complex with ultra modern rooms that include microwaves and refrigerators.

5. Papagaios Island

This island is accessible by boat from the Cabo Frio Canal. Activities like snorkeling and swimming are perfect here and there are also boats that can hire out diving equipment.
