Cementerio la Reina is the oldest cemetery in the city. It was founded in 1837 and therein lie the remains of brave Spanish soldiers who fell in the battle for independence. It is listed as a national monument and the only cemetery in the whole country that allows above-ground interment. If you are into visiting graveyards and stuff, this place is a spot for some quiet reflection. While there, try to spot the magnificent Bella Durmiente - a statue dedicated to a lady who died of heartbreak.

Casa de Los Leones, which means ‘House of Lions,’ is a historic monument in Cienfuegos. It is named “House of Lions” because of the figures of lions surrounding the pillars.
