1. Stop by the Neoclassical mansion, The Waldomore

If you love seeing historic buildings when you travel, add The Waldomore to your Clarksburg itinerary. This Neoclassical brick mansion was home to a member of the Virginia State Senate, Waldo Goff. It also once served as a public library, until Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library was built next door and the mansion was turned into a repository for materials relating to local culture and history. Although it’s listed under the National Register of Historic Places, it’s most notable for its genealogy room. The Waldomore is still part of the current public library, and house tours are sometimes available. If you’re interested in taking a look inside, be sure to contact the library for more information.

Opened in 1903, this bank actually stopped printing notes in 1935 - that makes the notes printed here collector-worthy old currency! 3. Spend a whole day at Veterans Memorial Park


Veterans Memorial Park is without a doubt one of the most frequented parks in the city. This park has all the outdoor activities that you can ask for! There is a fitness trail that involves a scenic walk along the river, various picnic areas, a spacious kid’s amusement area, two tennis courts, one skate park, and more. The list is endless, which means you can easily spend your whole day exploring this amazing park. Don’t forget to pack a delicious picnic for your time here.
