Putnam Museum and Science Center dates back to 1867 and was actually one of the first museums to open along the west of Mississippi River. It’s a natural science and history museum that focuses on ensuring its visitors have engaging experiences. There are a number of exhibitions at the museum, including areas focused on fossils and minerals and a portion that talks about the history of Davenport. The museum is also home to a large theatre where you can watch an educational video during your visit.

Davenport Skybridge is a cable-supported bridge for pedestrians that connects a park to a courtyard. It features more than 8,000 lights inside which are adjusted for events. For example, it turns red, white, and blue for Independence Day. 4. Visit the German American Heritage Center & Museum

America’s Midwest is home to a large number of people with German ancestry, and German American Heritage Center & Museum aims to chronicle and preserve that history. The museum was founded in 1994 and sits in a building that dates back to the 1870s as a gasthaus, or guesthouse, for immigrants. Today, the museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibitions include two restored hotel rooms and information on how Germans immigrated to the area by foot, train, and sea. The museum also hosts a number of workshops and classes.

Built in the late 1880s, Soldier’s Monument was created in memory of those who died during the Civil War. The monument takes the form of an obelisk and stands at a height of 50 feet (15 meters).
