Start your tour with a blessing from the Goddess Chatushrungi. Chatushrungi Mata Temple is situated on Shivaji Road, at a distance of 17 km (10.5 mi) from Pune City. According to a legend, an ardent devotee and rich merchant used to visit the shrine in a place called Vani daily to seek blessings from the goddess. One night the goddess entered his dreams and asked him to unearth her idol on the hilltop. Today, on that place, stands Chatushrungi Mata temple.

“Chatuh” means four and “shrung” means peaks of a mountain in Sanskrit. The temple derived its name “Chatushrungi” because it is located at a height of 27 m (90 ft) on a hill that has four peaks. You need to climb more than 100 steps to reach the shrine of the temple. Flocks of pigeons can be seen pecking at the grains at the entrance. Its red and white walls are attractive to the eyes.
