Luderitz is home to one of the oldest Lutheran churches in the country. Felsenkirche, located on top of Diamond Hill, is the tallest structure in town. It was constructed and consecrated in the 1910s, and you can find stunning stained glass windows inside.

3. Explore the ghost town of Kolmanskop
Located around 15 minutes from Luderitz, Kolmanskop is a popular tourist attraction. It is a ghost town that was once one of the richest communities in the country due to the thriving diamond mining industry in the 1900s. In the 1950s, it was abandoned and became a ghost town.
You can find various buildings here filled with sand. Since it’s located in a desert, it’s recommended that you plan your trip properly to avoid strong winds and blazing heat. Don’t forget to bring a hat, proper footwear, and lots of water! Do keep in mind that you need a permit to explore the area.

4. Drop by the amazing Goerke Haus
Found on Diamond Hill, close to the iconic Felsenkirche, Goerke Haus is one of the main tourist attractions of Luderitz. Considered a national monument, it used to be the residence of Lieutenant Hans Goerke. Although it has been around since 1910, its Art Nouveau elements still impress guests to this day.

One of the best restaurants in town, Essenzeit is a must-try dining option when you’re in Luderitz. Its location attracts both local and international visitors, as it is perfectly situated in front of Robert Harbour, giving customers a pleasant view of the ocean.
Essenzeit also boasts delicious meals, such as a seafood platter, spare ribs, and lamb chops. Breakfast, starters, salads, and desserts are available, too.

7. Enjoy and relax on Agate Beach

Located just a short drive north of Luderitz is the beautiful Agate Beach. It is rich with rocks and crystals, including agate. If you love looking for hidden treasures, this is the perfect spot for you. The calm waters of Agate Beach and its sandy dunes make it a great place to stroll around—just be careful of strong winds!

Shark Island offers a great view of Luderitz. Also found on the island is Shark Island Lighthouse, a 12-meter (39.4 feet) high structure that features accommodations. The lighthouse can house more than two adults and has a fully equipped kitchen. However, breakfast and dinner are already included in the rates. You will also have access to a TV.
