Miami is a small city that is located on the northeast corner of the state of Oklahoma. The region is also said to be the land of culture, as this city is also the headquarter of nine Native American tribes. This city prospered after the late 1800s, with the arrival of a mining and tire industry, and its growth sustained for a couple of decades. That was the time when this tiny-sized city saw remarkable things come its way, like theaters, multi-story buildings, many newspapers, two railroads, and trade centers. Today, the city conserves its many churches, historic buildings, museums, and everything that will give you a glimpse of its golden past. Miami is situated in the middle of Route-66, and maybe you will visit it. Opened in 1929 and never closed for performances, Coleman Theater is the real jewel in the middle of Route 66. It is labeled as the premier theater of the state of Oklahoma, and it is also the largest grand theater of America today, by the city of this size. Coleman family endowed the possession of this theater to Miami City Council in 1989, which has been running this arena using donations. The theater is kept in its original state like the days when the great American legends like Will Rogers, Sally Rand, Tom Mix, and other stars performed here. So visit Coleman to experience the rich theatrical history of Oklahoma and the country. And when you go there, make sure to listen to the last of the mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.

Between the month of May and October, Miami holds a farmers market to celebrate the harvest of the local produce. During these months, the nearby farmers and small entrepreneurs would gather after every seventh evening to exhibit their organic yield to the public. All the items that are displayed are collected within the 75 miles (120 kilometers) radius of Miami city. You can shop for fresh fruits, herbs, vegetables, and mushrooms, and also for homemade items like jam, honey, crafted wines, cookies, etc. And once in a while, they also celebrate food-tasting events, cooking demos, giveaways, and live music performances.

10. Check out the original Ribbon Road

Editor's Note: There's no photo available at the time of writing

What should be done if the budget is just limited to constructing a full-width road until only halfway to the destination point? We must make it half-wide all the way instead. Seems comical, but it is the most logical answer to the problem. And the state of Oklahoma had this exact problem in the year 1920 due to lack of funds, hence they came up with this nine-foot (three-meter) wide road between Miami and Afton. This sideway road is older than Route-66, and back in the day, it gave people access to the Highway-7. This cute little asphalt pathway is an attraction today and people come here to experience the history prior to the Route 66 days.
