Discover the striking landscape around Troy on horseback. The Heart of Dixie Trail Ride is an area to the north of Troy with about 35 miles (56 km) trails that is perfect for outdoor recreation. Ride horses along trails past creeks and forests, or explore the countryside on an ATV instead. Visitors can also fish for bass in the fully-stocked pond, swim in the outdoor swimming pool, or camp in one of the rustic on-site cabins.

4. See the artifacts of the Pioneer Museum of Alabama
The Pioneer Museum of Alabama is the perfect place to learn about the local heritage. A fabulous option for a flavorful meal, the Sister’s Restaurant has a terrific menu of classic Southern dishes. This lovely casual restaurant was established by two sisters in 1997 and has remained a local favorite for its old-fashioned cooking and hospitality. The menu differs with the days of the week and includes a buffet special Wednesday through Sunday. No matter what day you stop by though, there is always something good on the menu. Get lost in the beautiful architecture of the College Street Historic District. This lovely, two-block area features an assortment of historic buildings in a variety of different architectural styles, including Greek Revival, Late Victorian, and Queen Anne. As you stroll through the area, you will see 17 period houses, like the Murphree House which dates from the 1870s, and the ornate Henderson-Denison House of the late 19th century. There is also a historic church and cemetery in the district. This unique attraction is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
