1. Sandy Hollow Heritage Park

Sandy Hollow Heritage Park is a history-rich area located along Birmingham Road. It is best remembered for the Battle of Brandywine on its grounds, which was part of the American Revolutionary War between 1775 to 1783. This park makes a good place for an early morning or evening walk on its paved pedestrian path. If you happen to stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites West Chester, the park is only a short 3-minute drive or a 30-minute walk away from the hotel.

2. Pete's Produce Farm

Pete’s Produce Farm is a produce market located 12 minutes away from the Cheyney University Of Pennsylvania on foot. Some of the freshest produce you can find here includes multiple varieties of sweet corn, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. There’s also a wide selection of eggplants, peppers, onions, garlic and beans. Since the products are harvested daily, you can expect only the freshest ones available for purchase.

The brand was established since 1979, and they serve breakfast and lunch menus at the West Chester outlet. 5. WCU Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology

This small museum is located along South Church Street in the Old Library Building of the West Chester University of Pennsylvania. You can find a wide range of collections — from prehistoric to modern, and from those about the Americas, Rwanda and Europe. You can get a glimpse of the current exhibits and the featured object of the month if you head over to WCU Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology’s official website. American Helicopter Museum & Education Center is a transport museum where you can learn more about the history, science and technology behind rotary wing aviation. You will be able to participate in their public educational programs, exhibitions, air shows, and workshops that focus on the principles of flight. The Reactors Comedy Club meets at different locations depending on the show, so it’s best to check out their website for the latest show dates and times. But at the time of writing, the main show in West Chester is held at Timothy’s West Chester sports bar in Parkway Shopping Center. The bar serves pizza, sandwiches, burgers and more. 8. Painted Plate

Painted Plate is a pottery store along Market St and steps away from Nudy’s Cafe. The good thing about this place is that there you don’t need to make a reservation if you’re simply looking to paint some pottery. You can take your pick from platters, vases or even piggy banks and animals for the kids. The on-site staff will help you to create a design and you will be able to start painting with 60 different glaze colors available at the store. Do note that at least one week is needed to fire and glaze your piece, so do plan ahead so that you can receive your finished pottery before heading back home.

Located along South High Street, it has a funky vibe you will feel upon entering the premises. If you’re not a fan of smoked alligator sausage, do not worry as there are choices here for everyone. Try their barbecue chicken with smoked mozzarella pizza or coconut battered beer shrimp. They’re bound to leave you wanting more!

10. William Brinton 1704 House

Brinton 1704 House is a local history museum along Oakland Road in Delaware County. Do take note that the museum only opens seasonally — on Saturdays and Sundays between May and October. You will be able to see in person the 22-inches thick stone walls of the house and take a tour of one of the oldest historic houses in America. Built in 1704, the house reflects the medieval English architectural style. If you’re keen on paying a visit, do call or email ahead so that arrangements can be made to welcome you.
