Wilmington is the state of Delaware’s largest and most populated city. It was the site of North America’s first Swedish settlement, and today brings in plenty of visitors looking to explore the city’s arts and culture as well as its water-based activities. Wilmington sits along three bodies of water: the Christina River, Brandywine Creek, and the Delaware River. The Wilmington Waterfront is a popular place to visit, offering a park to play in, the Delaware Children’s Museum, and Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, a sports venue for minor league baseball. For those looking to explore the arts, you’ll find plenty on offer, including the Delaware Art Museum and the Grand Opera House. And of course, there’s more to explore. So we’ve put together a list featuring some of our favourite things to do in Wilmington. So read on below to check out what’s on offer.

Let’s start this list off with the Hagley Museum and Library, which opened its doors to the public in 1957. At the museum, visitors can learn about the history of industrial technologies and America, with a focus on the du Pont family. It also includes a garden and a machine shop. It’s a great way to learn about American history through the lens of the successful family, as well as learn more about their business. Plus the museum sits on the banks of Brandywine Creek, so if it’s a nice day, you can roam the gardens and take in the plasant ambiance.
