When the summer heats up the Sun Peaks Valley, some areas, including McGillivray Lake, make a great place for a workout, a bit of exploration and fishing. The road to the lake is almost snowed in, during the winter season, but it is usually accessible and provides breathtaking views. You can easily launch a boat here, camp, start fishing or enjoy a small picnic. The lake is not huge, but it offers scenic views of the forest and water.
Be careful if you are going with children and don’t let them go in the bushes alone. The area is safe, but wildlife spotting is frequent in nearby places.
