Elkin, North Carolina may be a small town of just over 4,000 people but the area has been lived in for over 10,000 years. The Sioux Indians settled along the Elkin River around 500 BC and the first white English settlers arrived in the mid-18th century and because of Elkin’s position on two rivers, the city saw a large expansion and increase in prosperity in the 1890’s. The local Elkin municipal park was also a staging area for troops during the revolutionary war. These days Elkin is a quiet town with quaint old charm to it, and because of their weather, they even produce a local wine and are the home of two micro breweries. Visit Elkin today and stay in one of these amazing Airbnb vacation rentals in the area.
