Fort Defiance is an 18th century home built by the Revolutionary War general William Lenoir for his family and has the same name as a frontier fort nearby. It was completed in 1792. It still stands in a historic plantation house near Lenoir in Caldwell County, North Carolina. The property was later transferred to Caldwell County Historical Society in 1965 and operates as a historical house museum.
