Honduras meaning “depths” in Spanish, is a Central American country blessed with the Caribbean Sea coastal lines to the north and the Pacific Ocean resting in the south. The country got its independence from Spain in 1821 and became one of the provinces of Central America. Honduran cuisine is a blend of indigenous cuisines like Lenca cuisine, Garifuna cuisine, and Maya cuisine. Other dishes include chicken with corn and rice, roast meat with carne asada and chismol, and to top it all, coconut milk and coconut are featured in both savory and sweet dishes. 2. Baleadas


What can go wrong with an abundance of cheese and cream? This traditional food is the ideal meal preferably as the main dish or for breakfast. There are different variations like baleada sencillas and baleanda mixta.
