Introducing ENSO ANGO FUYA II

FUYA II has re-imagined the core elements of a Kyoto machiya (a traditional Kyoto townhouse) and created a space, designed in the art of Zen, for mindfulness and meditation. Typically, Kyoto machiyas have a non-imposing exterior which, upon entry, unfolds like a jasmine flower into an elaborate series of interconnected spaces. This traditional element can be seen in the blueprints of FUYA II, but also majestically blends modern design features into each area.

Featuring exquisite communal areas, FUYA II has a homely feeling with bright color pops and relaxing seating areas. Like your private space? Then withdraw from the communal zones to your own private oasis. There are a number of different room styles to choose from, including 69 twin rooms and 16 triple rooms.

Facilities and amenities in ENSO ANGO

A sense of community and belonging is core to the story of FUYA II, and as such, guests can take full advantage of facilities at four other properties of ENSO ANGO. Each is within walking distance from one another and this fluidity of movement is one of the reasons why FUYA II is so unique. You are bound to be surprised by who you will meet and what you will discover.

At FUYA II, the 24-hour lounge offers a number of different seating options, each lovingly designed to create space and interaction with other guests. You can also delve into the complimentary continental breakfast, served daily. In the evening, the lounge turns into a cocktail party where guests can enjoy sipping on delicious fruity cocktails and chatting about their day.

Other communal spaces include a traditional Japanese-style tea ceremony room, a modern gym in Kyoto with state of the art machines and a multi-purpose Tatami Salon. In the tea room, guests will be able to experience a traditional tea ceremony whilst sitting at a “Ryurei”, a low-rise table and chair combo.

These areas are often used for events and activities such as yoga and Zen meditation in the Tatami Salon.

Remember to explore the facilities of other ENSO ANGOs. We’d recommend the bars in TOMI II and YAMATO I, the a la carte menu offered at the restaurant in TOMI II and the guest kitchen in TOMI I where you can make your own meals together with family and friends.

Experience authentic Japanese culture through local activities in Kyoto

ENSO ANGO values the authentic culture of Kyoto and aims to connect guests with the ancient traditions and craftsmen of the city through various tailored local activities. All ENSO ANGO guests can participate and register for these events and activities.

Focus within and expand your consciousness during a one-hour Zen meditation workshop under the guidance of experienced Zen masters who are priests from Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple, Kenninji Ryosokuin in Gion. It is also for the first time ever in history that the priests are teaching Zen meditation outside the confines of a temple.

For active runners, you will be thrilled to find out that night running around Kyoto is one of the activity highlights. Taking the route along the Kamogawa River, through quiet shopping arcades and passing by Shinto shrines, this night activity promises to be a great way to keep fit and explore the less-touristy side of Kyoto.

Other notable activities include authentic cooking classes and learning more about the craft of Tatami, which is an iconic characteristic of the Japanese culture and lifestyle.

Designed from the heart

FUYA II was lovingly designed by Uchida Design Inc., an interior design studio founded by world-renowned designer Shigeru Uchida, featuring a variety of art works such as a scroll art by Gazanbo Higuchi.

With a number of common areas, at the heart of FUYA II, you’ll find a sense of community that represents both modern-day Kyoto and traditional Japan. Be sure to stroll around and take note of local artists work which is showcased throughout. The care and attention extend beyond the walls of the hotel into the Tsuboniwa, a traditional Japanese garden.

Before entering the hotel grounds, you’ll come across the sacred Japanese Chozu, where you can wash your hands. Then, upon entering, you’ll be swept up into a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly creates a relaxing environment.

This network of Japanese themed hotel in Kyoto came to exist under a collaboration of artist contributors with Uchida Design Inc.
