Lucerne is one of the most popular cities to visit in Switzerland. The reasons to visit are seemingly endless: the city has lots of preserved medieval architecture and cobblestone streets in the pedestrian-only old part of town. You can walk along the city’s old defenses, the Musegg Walls, and peer out over the vistas from one of nine towers. You can also travel over the world’s oldest truss bridge, Chapel Bridge, to take in the view of the beautiful Reuss River which runs through the center of town. The other attractive part of the city is its gorgeous natural setting. Along with the river, the city is next to the pristine blue Lake Lucerne and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Explore the lake by tour boats or the mountains by incline railway, or by hiking! The list goes on and on, but first, you’ll need a place to stay. If you are wondering where to stay in Lucerne, we’ve rounded up the best properties, including hotels and apartments to suit your travel style.

Visit Lucerne in the summer to see the best classical music performers from all over the world. The most beautiful city in Switzerland hosts an important festival with 80,000 attendees. In fact, a hall with the world's best acoustics was built to hold nearly 2,000 people 25 years ago for it.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. About a 40-minute drive from this property is the coolest funicular in the WORLD. It is in the canton of Schwyz, which is also where the knives from Victorinox come from. The funicular took 14 years to construct with a budget of 45 million! Now, round yellow cabins climb a slope of 110% to 700 m (2,296.6 ft)! To reach a completely car-free village of 100 people, it takes just three minutes!

By the way, Stoos is only a 40-minute drive from Lucerne. You'll find a ski resort with the nearest mountain, Fronalpstock (1,922 m [6,305.8 ft]). It has 30 km (18.6 mi) of slopes for skiers and a school where even the youngest will be taught how to ski. Toboggan fans also have a 2-km (1.2-mi) slope!

In the summer, autumn and spring, there are prepared walking paths with views of central Switzerland!

A minute-long stroll from this property is The Bakers' Guild House. The structure is one of the painted houses that Lucerne, the most beautiful city in Switzerland, is known for. Inside is a restaurant with the "correct" fondue, which you can enjoy with a view of Mount Pilatus, one of the symbols of central Switzerland. I recommend taking a ride on the mountain to burn off a high-calorie dish.
