Occupying a fantastic location close to the entrance to the Central Zone of Sukhothai Historical Park, Vitoon Guesthouse is an ideal accommodation option if you want to be up, out, and exploring the beautiful ruins in next to no time.

Old Sukhothai is home to many majestic remains from the Sukhothai Kingdom, an ancient and powerful former capital that flourished between the 1230s and 1580s in the northern parts of what is now modern-day Thailand.

Vitoon Guesthouse is a terrific base from which to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site and ancient city.

Choice of clean rooms in different sizes

Vitoon Guesthouse has two buildings, one with air-conditioned guest rooms and the other with cheaper fan-cooled rooms. Facilities are quite standard and basic, but the prime location makes the prices very reasonable.

Fan rooms for two people cost 500 THB (approximately 14 USD) per night, with a choice of one double bed or two single beds. Air-conditioned rooms, with a double bed or two single beds, are 900 THB (approximately 25.30 USD) for a night, and if you’re travelling as an intrepid trio you might want to check out the air-conditioned triple rooms, which are 1,200 THB (approximately 33.80 USD) per night.

A fairly small establishment, there are 12 rooms with fans and 18 rooms with air-conditioning.

Each guest room has a private bathroom with hot water. The beds are quite hard, with the firm Thai-style mattresses, and the bed linen has perhaps seen better days, but they are clean and comfortable enough for a couple of nights.

The air-conditioned rooms have a large wooden wardrobe, great for keeping your room nice and tidy, as well as a desk, chair, and satellite TV.

Location, location, location!

Vitoon Guesthouse is just across the road from the main entrance to the Central Zone of Sukhothai Historical Park. It’s not a wide or busy road … you can walk out of the guest house’s front door and be at the historical park within around 20 steps. Some rooms have views out towards the historical park. The excellent location of Vitoon Guesthouse really cannot be stressed enough!

Reasonably-priced bicycle and scooter rentals

Sukhothai Historical Park is split between several zones. Did I mention already how close Vitoon Guesthouse is to the Central (and main) Zone?! Whilst you could take long walks around this closest section, having your own transportation is highly recommended. Not only can you see more in the time you have, but you can also easily get around the other zones too.

Expect to pay around 50 THB (approximately 1.40 USD) for daily bicycle hire and around 400 THB (approximately 11.30 USD) for a day’s scooter rental. Basic helmets are provided with scooters – they are the type that covers the head only, not the full helmets with visors and neck support. (Note - I’m not wearing mine in the photo because of just posing; you should always wear a helmet when actually riding!)

Bicycle and scooter rentals are available from next door to Vitoon Guesthouse. The rental establishment is operated by the same people who manage the guest house, but rentals are available for non-guests too.

Other guest house facilities for a convenient stay

Vitoon Guesthouse has a small onsite restaurant that serves international breakfasts like toast and eggs (not included in the room rate), drinks, and Thai meals such as noodles and fried rice.

There are stone tables and chairs throughout the garden, which are great for chilling out with a cold beer in the evenings.

Members of staff can help to book trips and transportation, such as guided tours around Old Sukhothai and to Si Satchanalai Historical Park (also within Sukhothai Province).

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the guest house. If you are travelling device-free but want to quickly check emails, confirm flight reservations, research the next part of your trip, etc you can pay to use computers in the reception area. This costs around 30 THB (approximately 0.85 USD) per hour.

The rooms at Vitoon Guesthouse may be basic, but they are comfortable enough. And, you really couldn’t sleep any closer to Sukhothai Historical Park! Book your stay at Vitoon Guesthouse and have fun exploring the fascinating ruins of an ancient capital city.
