Don’t judge a book by its cover, or a hotel by its facade
In the case of the Hotel Premium Green Hills, you shouldn’t take even the name at face value, since it is not particularly a “premium” affair, but some wise marketers probably decided that naming the place “Hotel Highly Competent Green Hills” would not sound all too appealing. But this is not to say that it’s not a splendid value play for both leisure and business travelers: Although there is not much premium, green, nor hill to be found, there is much to be appreciated here, and when you see your night’s stay costing you as low as 3,800 JPY (31 USD), you will feel most premium in your thinking.
An efficient room that is on the right side of claustrophobic
Behind the photographer there is a window, so rest assured this room does not feel as cramped as it might appear. There is a desk, chair, and even a small closet. The bed, like all other furnishings, is in excellent condition. There’s a TV, and free Wi-Fi rounds out the picture nicely. There is a refrigerator as well, which you can stock from a nearby convenience store. Another fantastic perk is free (yes, FREE) use of their laundry machines located on the basement level. Detergent is available for next to nothing.
A highly functional bathroom with plenty of hot water and water pressure
Bearing in mind the price of your room, you will not criticize the lack of space in the bathroom. What you do have in that tight space is a well oiled hygiene machine, with quality liquid soap and shampoo, a toilet seat that jet sprays your posterior, and lots of hot water. All the standard amenities, down to a toothbrush, are supplied, with some additional ones (like body sponges) available for the taking at the check-in counter.
Breakfast is a deal, and a delicious feast
For cheaper lodging rates, breakfast must be purchased separately, but at 800 JPY (6.50 USD) you will be happy as a clam in miso soup upon seeing the buffet spread. Eggs, sausages, Japanese foods, salad, soup, breads, an assortment of vegetable dishes, and of course piping hot coffee are all for the taking. This is an outstanding buffet breakfast, and one you could easily spend nearly twice as much for at other hotels in Japan.
Simply put, your go-to budget hotel in central Sendai
With a fabulous location - shopping, nightlife, and Sendai train station all are easily walkable - solid rooms, a shocking delicious breakfast for a deal of a price, you just can’t go wrong. Next time you find yourself in Sendai, think “premium,” then choose the Hotel Premium Green Hills.
