If they do, then you should head down to Burns Original BBQ to have a feast. With no indoor seating and only communal picnic tables, it feels like a true family affair. This fantastic little eatery might not look like much from the outside but their barbecue menu is great. If you are looking for a quick and easy food-fix then Byron’s might be your ideal match. Be sure to take the GPS address with you as it can be a little difficult to find the first time. It is worth the effort and is popular with the locals; you should think of it as a hidden gem! The owner has been cooking barbecue for 16 years and says that once you try it, you’ll always come back for more. With food this tasty, we can easily believe him.

6. Pappas Delta Blue Smokehouse
You won’t be disappointed with the menu at Pappas Delta Blue Smokehouse, which includes aged hickory-smoked USDA Prime Beef Brisket, Berkshire Pork Belly, and ribs galore. You might be glad to hear that there are also plenty of gluten-free options on offer. They have a licensed bar with an extensive American whiskey collection. Fantastic food and drinks… sounds great to us.

7. Demeris Bar-B-Q At West Loop
Proudly serving smoked hickory since 1964, the Demeris Bar-B-Q at West Loop is another barbecue joint that is steeped in tradition and history. This fantastic eatery is extremely popular during lunch. You should expect to queue before finding space on one of the large catering tables. If you are in a rush, stick to the grab-and-go style menu. We recommend the Brisket Po Noy Basket, and be sure not to miss out on the yummy desserts too.

8. Fainmous BBQ
Although it has been running as a business since 2004, the Houston doors to this incredible eatery only opened in 2011. Since then, they’ve been happily barbecuing every day. For good reason, Fainmous has received a dedicated local following. Be sure to check out their weekly offers which are always popular and have feast-sized portions. In this family-run restaurant, you can choose to have your barbecue meal with or without hot sauce. The location of Fainmous can be difficult to find, but believe us when we say that it is worth the extra effort.

Although only open since early 2018, Feges BBQ already has a strong following. Feger BBQ is pushing boundaries and creating an exciting menu which boasts traditional delicious recipes with modern and contemporary twists. Be sure to head there on a Friday to test out the tantalising and brightly coloured BBQ Flautas. The couple that owns Feges BBQ have put their heart and soul into the food, and you can tell. We love not only the taste at Feges, but also the fun and joyful ambience.

10. Goode Company BBQ
For a traditional Texan-style dinner, ambience and location head straight to Goode Company BBQ and you won’t be disappointed. The seating inside is small but definitely cosy and full of class. There is also interesting memorabilia on every single inch of wall space, you could probably spend half the time just looking at all of that! We especially love the fact that for the classical brisket, you are able to have a choice of fat or lean meat.
